What's a fair price for a new 1911 45 acp e?

Just wondered what a fair price was for a SW 1911 45 ACP E series?

I paid $829 for my base model E-Series from a LGS. You see them for less online, but I've seen them for more, too, and I prefer to deal locally when possible.

I just bought a S&W 1911SC E series with the rounded butt and the stainless slide. It was $1135 shipped to my local guy. None of the distributors around here had any or any prospects at getting them.

My SW1911TA was $1,100 via a dealer on Gunbroker. Added to that were $30 s/h + $10 to my FFL. That was almost a year ago but they seem to be going for about that same price today.
