A grilled sticky from "The Diner". Occasionally there may even be a few who even know what i'm talking about. Quick recipe is slice a sticky cross grain, fry on side in melted butter. Ya ain't really lived unless you try this at least once. Unfortunately it is no more. Penn Staters should know what is being talked about.

Remember them well. I make them at home with day-old stickybuns. Not to be beaten for a morning delight.
Haven't had one in State College for decades, but what a memory they left.

What is better than a doughnut.............2 doughnuts.
That was my first thought as well!

As to sticky buns, when I was at univ. I often went to the Student Union Bldg. cafeteria before an 8:30 language class and fortified myself with a cinammon sticky bun and coffee. I can still taste those deliciously unhealthy buns. But I was 20 and immortal...

The bright side is that you will likely live longer.....
My cardiologist does not approve. Actually, none of my other doctors do either.

Not that long ago had more regular cardiologist visits. Always scheduled them wed morn. The rib wagon was in town on wed lunch and didn't want barbecue sauce stains on my shirt before visiting doctor.

This reminded me that a few years ago my gf and I picked up this sign in an antiques shop and gave it to our regular eatery. The same thought could apply to doughnuts.

In-depth data for doughty defenders of the doughnut

Apparently June 1 was National Doughnut Day, but I just came across this June 2 exhaustive article in the WaPo:

America's doughnut capital. Can we stop at just one?
"People all over the world eat fried dough, and nobody does doughnuts like the United States. Doughnuts can be found year-round across this great nation in a huge array of flavors, shapes and styles.

But astute reader Susan Green suspects that America may be riven by a hidden doughnut divide. She observes that some parts of the country are saturated with a single doughnut brand, while others host a profusion of independent doughnut purveyors.

On National Doughnut Day, we wondered: Is Susan right? If so, can we map the nation's deep-fried fault lines? And where is America's true doughnut capital?...
There are maps of the most common doughnut brand by area and doughnut density of the United States (people per doughnut shop) and charts. A lot to chew through.

Alas, there is one visible hole in the details: no Venn diagrams  Shout out to Rustyt here to step up to the batter and fill that in.
