I tried to attend a gun show in Winston-Salem today, arrived 15 minutes after the opening time of 9:00AM, there was no parking and a line that stretched through the parking lot. I had just witnessed the same situation last week-end in Raleigh so was not too receptive to standing in line for an hour. My back does not enjoy nor appreciate standing for extended periods. I left and toured some of the local golf stores and returned to find more of the same only worse. Anyone understand the reason for the frenzy?

I just got an email from my range announcing that the the bullseye and CC Leagues were moving to 7 PM from 4:30 in order to free up 6 more lanes during peak hours.

What was that Hirohito said about nt invading the USA because he would find "a gun behind every blade of grass."

Several times here at home we have had a crowds like that and full parking lots and long lines to get in, but I swear I don't see that many people buying. I don't understand whats happening either.

Thursday night I had to get in line to pay at my local gun shop.
I saw at least three other customers get NICS checks during the time it took to get my Kimber:

Could it be, no winter and above seasonal temps, cabin fever and..... and election time has started !
Was to a gun show here in PA 2 weeks ago and it was the
samething. The place was so full it was nuts inside and you really could not see anything

Same here in Indiana. Long lines and lot's of buying not just lookers.
I agree factors like no football and mild or no winter in this area
contributes as well as upcoming uncertainty of elections. I'm going
to now concentrate on ammo as my gun supply is sufficient according
to my wife.

Sam, I'd thought about attending that show tomorrow but visited a local shooter's forum today and saw other comments about the long lines. That used to be a ho-hum show at best, amazes me that it's so well attended.
I talked to handejector (Lee) today and he saw a similar situation in Atlanta today.

Last gunshow weekend here the NICS checks were taking 3 hours, with the at least the first hour on hold. It was even busy Wednesday when I was in the pawn shop. The guy was on hold at least 20 minutes before we both decided it was a good time for me to get lunch.

I know in some cases it is folk spending their tax refunds. As for the rest, I think we are seeing a minor frenzy fueled by the constant reminders that this is an election year. In my case I had found two milsurps I really liked... out of the four that interested me.

I went to a gunshow today here local and it was crazy also. It was like being at Walmart on BlackFriday. Everytime I go I say I'll not go back. But I enjoy looking at all the guns and stuff. Never bought anything but a ammo can at one. The bad thing is you can get any of the guns thats there at any local gun shop for $30-$100 less and not have to fight the crowd. But this show was as crowded as I've seen one yet.

I feel your pain, my last 2 shows were a mad house.Even the 2 local indoor ranges are always very busy.

Everybody's out of beef jerky and desert camouflage carry-alls.
an 43 types of lubricant...... apparently, guns have never been lubed properly with mere oils, an we shall all die in the coming apocalypse if we don't get the latest/greatest lubes. They also increase your IQ and prevent cancer in California......

an glass cleaner so you can see where to oil.

an tee shirts. the lady was so pretty, I bought 18 with stupid slogans. I don't wear tee shirts, so look for karmas......

an storable food. I wanted some, but the mean man wouldn't take no food stamps.......

an jewelry, but they didn't have nothin that matched my outfit.

an all kinds of sliced rocks. pretty rocks.

an lots of other stuff I cain't member cause I didden pay nuff tenshun.......

I forgot the Indian stuff. Brand new Indian stuff.
Can I stiil say 'Indian'? Did ANYONE play "Cowboys and Native Americans" when you were a kid?

Help me understand Dream Catchers. Were they really that important to NA's/I's? Can't we just HAVE dreams? I didden know I had to catch them. What if I catch a bad one? Can I let it go? Do I need a Catching License? Is there a bag limit? Size restrictions? Closed season?

Ya know....I've never seen so much flea market stuff at gun shows as in the past couple years. I think it's because people are broke and selling anything they can "off the books" to supplement their income and because gun show operators a few years back as restrictions like NICS came into play, eliminated many non FFL dealers from the party, and were finding it harder and harder to get gun traders to table up. The last few I attended were pitiful in substance, but man they were well attended, lines around the buildings. I don't get it either, but it sure as hell ain't what it used to be.

Cheers;
Lefty

Same conditions that existed in 2008/2009 are driving the gun and ammunition markets again. The US Dollar is losing value daily and we're in an election year with people scared on both counts. No surprise at all that the gun shows and shops are packed.
