Been looking for a 5" K-38 for 7 yrs. Last month I traded a 4" 14 for my gun plus cash. Its a shooter grade so I can have fun with it and so far its pretty accurate. Its an Illinois State Police over run. I got the gun from SWCA member Russ L. Thanks Russ, Larry

My most-wanted gun right now is a no-dash 640 in .38 Special (no lock) in good shape. I haven't seen any in my area (so far)...

My no-dash 640 was hard to find as well. They're not particularly rare, but for some reason they simply weren't to be found locally. A few weeks ago, on a whim, I sent a note to an acquaintance that does a lot of trading, and it was in my hands 24 hours later.

Next on my hard-to-find list...a round butt 4" Model 63.

To ContinentalOp: I have two no dash 640s, One I use all
the time. It is deadly accurate, also have one NIB serial
number CEN1976. If your finances have improved by the
end of the year I may consider selling it but I don't know
with a serial number like this if you would want to make
this gun a shooter.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind and will let you know if things improve.

Dang, Bill. Made me laugh.

If you find two, I'll pay top dollar for the castoff. Heck, I'll even take K118, if it comes to that.

I'm also having a hard time finding that solitary RM in .22 LR.

I can see where you guys are having a really tough time. Set your sights in the heavens...

To share a lesser more specific gun I had to have, it was the 14-7 of all the different dashes in the Model 14.
I would still like to find that elusive 27-2 in the 6 1/2" barrel in minty condition. A guy offered me his on the forum years ago and I thought he wanted too much money at the time. Live and learn; he knew something I had not learned yet.

This has been and continues to be a very interesting thread for me.

A 5 inch model 27 at a reasonable price. I have not seen one at any price for a while.
I owned one 30 years ago or so and let it get away.

The hardest S&W for me to find was a "Outdoorsman .22 cal. 6" and a model 27-2 with the 8-3/8" barrel.

Mine was a Pre M14 K38 from 1948 with the standard bbl. with ALL matching parts. A few out there, all with mis matched grips and bbls. I do love the one a forum member sold me. Thanks again Jim. Big Larry:):):):):):):):):):)

A 3" model 19. Only one I've ever seen in person resides in a display case at the SBI in Raleigh.

I would settle for a PC GIGN 586 as a consolation prize though. ;) Regards 18DAI.

In the last year or so, maybe because of the economy, maybe the local, South Florida, there has'nt been a single model I wanted or have read about that I was not able to find in a showcase. I always wanted a 13-2 or 3 and in the last few days my local gunshop had two, $500 and $600 each. I was'nt willing to pay that much so I guess they are still there. Anyway, goodluck to all on finding their firearm.
