"the plug"? :D..........you won't be needing one, 'cause you bought the right 642 ;)

ear muffs, eye protection, speed loaders?

A good range bag to put everything in? A six foot tall safe for the inevitable collection to ensue?

Heck, I don't even see a reloading press for all that soon to be empty brass...

And no casting equipment either...

This is really a very empty picture...:p

A copy of Jeff Cooper's book the "Principles of Personal Defense"?

10 days! 10 minutes in New Mexico if you get the right NICS operator!

You are gonna love the gun. I would suggest a pair of gloves if those are the same +P UMCs I practice with. They rubbed off a layer of skin on my trigger finger, the first time I shot my 442. A perfect rectangle showing where the trigger made contact!

A 1,000,000 CP Surefire, a green laser, a holo sight, a 3x magnifier, 17 speed loaders, a trigger job, a hammer job, a barrel job, a derdillium dip for the finish, a bipod, a fore end grip, a rear end grip, a compensator and a supressor.

Oh, and some Hoppes.

Congrats Daddy, looks like the nursury is all ready.:D

Snap caps for learning trigger control on your new piece?

I was a dummy when I bought my first revolver, a 686, and bought 357 snap caps instead of the more versatile 38s.

I bought a Hornady Lock-N-Load press over Xmas for myself, but it's still in the box. Too daunting to tackle on my own. Need to find someone local that can give me pointers.

a train ticket to a "Gun Friendly" state?

Yeah, more relaxed gun laws would be great, but we're fighting the good fight right here. I have taken quite a few non-shooters to the range, and have changed lots of minds about guns and gun owners. Everyone knows me as the gun enthusiast.

I shot a 642 last year, but it was with the owners powder puff reloads. Hopefully factory ammo won't be too brutal.

A speedloader or Bianchi/Tuff speed strips?

I bought a speedloader from 5 star firearms, but want to get some speed strips for this J frame as well as my 627 UDR.

I first picked up the 5 round Tuff Products speed strips for my 638. The second round I got some 7 round ones that I carry with 5 rounds in them. Gives you more to hold onto when loading.

A belt holster would not be a bad addition to your list.
Lobo Gun Leather - Home
Ray will be glad to fix you up at an affordable price.
I just ordered a Model 1 Pancake with Inner Hammer Shield and optional Detailed Boning for my 638. You might consider a speed strip carrier when ordering the holster.

Now make it a priority to get your reloader set up and running.

Hi Bob, the other week I received two Enhanced Pancakes for my 629 and 627, and a speed loader pouch from Lobo. Pleased with their product. This J frame is gonna be for pocket carry around the building, so I ordered a pocket holster from RKBA. I might stick it in my waistband on occasion, so I'll be looking for an IWB holster with talon clip as I frequently wear track pants or jeans without a belt around the house. Looks like Bell Charter Oak has a ton of different versions, might give them a try this time.
