Whats the going price for a M65 3" these days?

Well I couldn't help myself wound up in another GS today. To my surprise they had a M65 3". I didn't see what dash it is but its not pinned. I didn't check it out close but it looked decent, had rubber grips and no box etc. Asking price was $399. Plus tax, might talk?

I know folks love the 3" 65 and that the 3" is more common in 65 than 66s.

I almost bought it but, I'm not sure if it was really a deal.

What do my enablers say

Yes, I did buy the M64 for the same price this week, but that I was more comfortable with the market prices.

I looked across internet land and could not find sold prices on 3" guns, so I'm not sure.

I see that folks really like these and the market isn't swimming in them...

$399 is a most excellent price. Any S&W with a 3" barrel seems to be bringing high prices lately. I can tell you I paid $600 for the one pictured below but keep in mind I'm in California. Finding a 3" M65 here is akin to a needle in a haystack and one has to really step up financially most of the time. In your area I wouldn't expect to pay anything near that but still that $399 is a good deal.

I paid $400 for mine and guns usually run a little less around here than in other parts of the country. There were quite a few of these 3" 65's and 3" 64's carried by plainclothes types in various parts of the country. Mine is marked BRPD. (Baton Rouge Police Dept.) The 3" 64 I had came from Anaheim, Ca. I bought it in Gulfport,Ms. several years ago and can't help but wonder how it got there from California.

I just paid $575 for a 65-6 with a 3 inch barrel. Some people may think that is too much, but it was near mint in the box, and they don't make them anymore. I'm happy. I think it depends on how much wear and tear is on the revolver that affects the price.

There's one now at my LGS for $550. At $400, that gun should have been sold yesterday, regardless of location. As with the other enablers, I woulda grabbed it at that price. -S2

I've got $400 in my latest one and I feel like that's too much. It's just a shooter grade and I was told it came from some state dept. of corrections purchase but it's not marked as such. Looks to have been carried a lot but shot little.

My 4" 66-1 had been carried to the point that the RH grip (Pachmayr Presentations) had been worn down to the metal form under the rubber.

The gun itself was beautiful (I'm a proud Papa) and a new set of grips made a world of difference.

The old grips now grace(?) a Taurus .38 of pre-model-number vintage. It's my Bee gun.

I tell people I shoot carpenter bees with a $500 Smith & Wesson, but I lie.

As you may have noticed it really depends on your local area. Out here (Pacific Northwest) ANY K-frame goes for a premium and sells fast -- especially 3"-ers. The last 19 I looked at was pretty beat up and it was $400. It was gone in a couple of days.

One just No Saled on Gun Broker for around $475. It belonged to a dealer about 50 miles from me. I went down and took a look at it Friday while picking up some steel, it was marked $489.95 on the store tag. It was pretty clean, and lockup was pretty good.
I had a couple trading guns with me, and was planning on a 2 gun trade. However he did not have a second gun I was looking for, a GP100 in a 4". I may take my 64-2 HB 4" down and see what boot he want's between them. I might do $150 or so difference. My 64-2 drives tacks, so I do not plan on giving my 64 away on an unknown accuracy gun, that does not lock up as tightly as my 64 does just to get a 3" round butt.

I paid $489.00 +tax for my 3" M13-3 RB just a few weeks ago. $399.00 is what an LGS has an M64 for here in town. *that* one seems a little high, but for a 3" M65 rb, that seems pretty fine to me!
