What's the lowest price you have ever paid for gasoline?

late 1950's, early 1960's, south side chicago............25 cents a gallon and you didnt have to get out of your car...an attendant filled the tank for you and you got a small gift as well.....

The least was zero.

When we were kids we'd get up early on a Sunday morning before the corner gas station was open and drain the gas leftover in the hoses into the gas tanks on our minibikes. There was a lot of pumps so we had plenty of gas to ride.

Yeah I know... :o
We did the same thing. Oh the joys of a misspent youth. Different times for sure.

If I remember correctly it was about $.30 in the early 60's when I first got to drive. Mom or dad was along and I bought my own gas. Maybe not, sometimes, when mom was riding shotgun. Mom's are easy.

I worked at a gas station when I was in high school. Not only was gas around $.17 a gallon, but we had to clean your windshield, check your oil, test your tire pressure and give you Green Stamps.

I had a 1968 Chevy El Camino SS396 with the Corvette engine, putting out 425 bhp. It used to pass everything but a gas station.

This is inspired but Colt LE 6920's thread about gas prices. It caused me to remember my own experience and to wonder what others have seen.

I was stationed in Southern California in 1962 and there was almost always a gas war going on. (And how many of you remember when we had gas wars?) I once drove to a station that was 5 miles away 'cause regular gas was going for 7 cents (that's right $0.07) per gallon. I was driving a Volkswagen bug and it wouldn't hold a dollars worth of gas.

So, what's the cheapest you ever found and when and where was it?

1966, Savannah, GA, hess station on Abercorn, 10 gal, for $2.00, gas war, $.20 /gal, not too shabby

I was paying $0.25 for Gulf Hi-Test in December 1970. That would b about $1.47 as of January 2015. No seasonal mixes, no ethanol, not unleaded.
