Post count is irrelevant in any statistic we track.
Post count has never equaled post quality.
Realize at that any moment approximately 60% of people on the forum are "visitors", meaning that they are not logged in at all.
An "Active" member is any member who has logged into the forum in the last 30 days.
Max number of people online at one time is 1332. That record was set last night. We break that record about every 2-3 weeks.
Unique users per day: 7000+ (that means 7000 unique IP addresses)
Unique IP addresses per month: 95,000+
Page views per month: 9,500,000, (that is 9.5 Million.)
We average 4500 Threads per month.
We average 45,000 posts per month.
We average well over 1000 new members per month.
Over 10%, of total members, are active because they logged in.
I arbitrarily picked out the number twenty, yet my gist of curiosity revolves around how many of these vast numbers contribute by an occasional post.
In my definition logging in w/o posting is not being active any more than lurking. I can see where it would be a handy stat for the classifieds.
I didn't allude to quality being represented or related to quantity.
Sixty percent are visitors evah so roughly so, we'll take the 7000 unique IPs a day and say everyone only came aboard on only one computer.
That leaves 2800 members. 8.2 members per active member. 339.79 active members, online on one day, that have at least logged on in the past thirty days.
Out of those 340 maximum, daily, active members we cipher how many used multiple IPs and how many posted.
At least 5 % used more than one IP so around 320.
My conclusion, though maybe not rational for your stats, comes to no more than 100-150 unique folks posting, on an average, for any given day.
I'll also venture to guess that out of those numbers maybe 10% haven't posted more than 20 or 25 times.
Out of the roughly 100 or so unique, active members that post, only a few dozen of them will be a major, regular contributor of posts.
I'm not taking into account staff or the SWCA private area and I'd like to see the numbers crunched w/o the classifieds as well.
Anywho, lots of folks watch TV w/o contributing and I'm not buying or selling advertisement.
All I'm saying is that you can take all those big numbers and attribute them, for the most part, to a small group of posters.
(I am not for one moment attempting to diminish the time, work, money and effort put into this site. I'm trying to look beyond that to lowest common denominator.
Doesn't mean I'm right or accomplished such undertaking.)
There is history to search, but w/o pics/posts for folks to look at/read there wouldn't be much in the way of window shopping/lurking.
For the most part I take up space in the lounge, yet on occasions I'll venture to other forums knowing that if I have a question there'll be a few knowledgeable folks that in short time will address my issue.
Ain't nuttin' but sumpthin' to ponder and speculate...
