A year or so ago I saw a youtube vid about someone selling an alkaline conversion unit that screws on the end of your water tap and makes water slightly alkaline. They said natural water is slightly acidic and bad for you. They also disabled the comments section. Anyway they claim blood is on the alkaline side of the ph scale and you should buy their product because it's healthier. Anyone with a brain will know it's complete bullony.

So now I can't drink OJ, have salad dressing, tea, coffee, vitamin C and just about everything. Not to mention the natural powerful hydrochloric acid that my stomach makes to digest food.

Anyway, I'm seeing it now on store shelves and noticed some billboards today for bottled Alkaline water. I think I could just add a miniscule bit of baking soda for the same effect and save a fortune if their claim where true.

The only explanation I can offer is that people are crazy.

Caj posted about Beta Water at Walmart a few years ago. They still sell it. Seriously?

Now they're selling Hermit Crab Water too.

One of these days I'm gonna read the fine print. I should pick up some of each and run a few test on them but really? It's just bottled water.

They probably use the baking soda method like maybe a tablespoon in 100 gallons and call it alkaline. There isn't much if any regulations on false claims for any bottled water. About 15 years ago some local news org had some tests done on various ordinary bottled waters and found all kinds of harmful junk and bacteria, even the expensive imported stuff. Reminds me of the restless legs scam a few years ago.

I guess I am just lucky then, as we have naturally alkaline water. And the reason it's like that is because it's hard water, with a fairly high calcium content to it. When I raised African Cichlids in an aquarium I didn't need all the fancy minerals they normally require for their water because our tap water was hard enough and alkaline enough already. All I had to do was kill the chlorine and chloramines in the water with chemical and add it to the tank.

Was at my Dr.'s office a while back and discussing gall stones with receptionist. Lady standing nearby was drinking a large bottle of the alkaline water and was telling how good it was and it would dissolve gall stones/kindney stones, etc. Dr. walked by and stated that there were no benefits to drinking it. Dr. said it was no good for you, all it does is neutralize the acid in your stomach making it difficult for food to digest. Said it was just like drinking Alka Seltzer.

Lemons are highly acidic. What, are you trying to kill me?

Read the link and you will see lemons cause alkaline increases in the body. Do a search and you will find many reports backing that up as being true. Same thing for apple cider vinegar.

Well now, my house is on a private well. The water is "soft"

It is good tasting and great for car and clothes washing. In fact our black topper that does work all over the area says I have some of the best water on the lake.

I will keep what I have, thank you!

Growing up in the boonies in the Catskills we had natural spring water. I always took it for granted but when my cousins from NYC would visit they couldn't get over the great flavor of our h2o. Worst water I experienced was when I lived in Amarillo TX in the 80's and it was awful.
