Back in April, my wife wanted to get full length grips for her new 351PD, so naturally we went to S&W's licensed grip maker, Altamont. Took a while, but they came in after about 6 weeks. Unfortunately, when I tried to install them, I found that there was a ridge on the right hand grip that prevented the grip from installing all the way on the frame.

She called Altamont and they sent her a shipping label, so back they went. She got them back today, and it looks like they didn't do anything. The ridge is still there, and it still won't go on the frame. At this point, she just wants her money back, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something here. The 351PD is a normal J-Frame round butt, and this grip should fit. Is there normally some sort of indent in the frame that this revolver doesn't have?

Somebody dropped the ball on the much do replacement I'm thinking. I'd find a number to call and ask for a supervisor, and his email address for the photos you're showing here.

Definitely a problem, as I see it from here.

I ordered some grips for a 41 from Altamont, and they wouldn't fit. Sent them back, and they replaced them with grips with the same problem. However, the color of the rosewood was so stunning I wanted to keep them. So, I found out where the problems were and fixed them with a dremel tool. It didn't take much to get them to work, and they're perfect now--a nice snug fit.

Unfortunately, I don't own a dremel, and I don't know anyone who does, and I'm not going to buy one just so I can fix their problem.
