What's with the S&W onlline store?

Anyone else order anything lately from the S&W online store? I ordered a pair of grips over a week ago. They have yet still to charge my credit card. Anyone else have a problem with recent orders taking a extraordinary amount of time to process?

Unless they've changed it, it doesn't tell you if the item is Out Of Stock. Last time (last fall) I ordered a rear sight online & a week or so later I received a post card saying that item was backordered. I received it (4) months later. (Strange system.) I don't believe they charged my cc until it shipped. Don't know if this applies to your order, just a FYI. Call CS if you need. Good luck!

I spoke with a friend who is a major S&W law enforcement dealer last week. He said S&W is installing a new computer inventory system and it is not going well. He is having to order by phone and S&W is writing out the orders by hand now. I was checking on a gun for a friend and the dealer could not tell me when he might get it in.

Better to call in and order by phone. Then they can tell you if its in stock or not at the time of the call.

I had a similar experience a little over a year ago when I ordered a pair of full size synthetic grips for my model 60. Waited several weeks with no response, then called them and was informed that they were on back order and would be a couple more weeks. Couple more weeks passed and no grips, called again and was told still on backorder and no definite estimate of delivery. I got upset and told them to cancel the order.

Then a week later I swallowed my pride and re-ordered. That time I got a post card saying they were on back order and gave me an estimated date of delivery. This time I received them pretty close to the estimated date. I wasn't very happy with the whole process, but I was pleased with the grips when I finally got them.
