What's you favorite obsolete or obscure round.

5.75mm Velo-Dog (a French round designed for use by cyclists against dogs).

Great gun, Muddyboot. I too like the 41 Long Colt.

40-72 Winchester. A buddy of mine inherited his grandfather's well-used 1895 with an octagon barrel in this caliber and has been looking for reloading dies for it with no luck.

I'm not sure how obscure it is, but not much is written about the .250 Savage (.250-3000 for the purists). I have a old Remington 660 that E.R. Shaw rebarreled to .250, and it is a tack driver! Great well-balanced little cartridge.

.32-20 in my Winchester model 1905 rifle. Weak? Sure, but just something kinda of neat about it...

Happy Memorial Day to all, Dad we miss you.

.256 Newton---my favorite obscure cartridge. This is a 30-06 case necked down to a .264" bullet. This is a great round------very similar to a 6.5-06, but I am not sure they are interchangeable, but very close.

Ahhh, but that is always the problem. So many nice old examples of the gunmaking arts out there, but not enough dough (or storage space) to own them all....

The story of my life...
So many guns, so little money...
but I do have a rotary mag Savage 99 in 308 Win - must take it out and shoot it with some nice pointy bullets...

DCC

Yes, you must...

I'd go for a Savage 99 in 250-3000, but those are hard to find. So, .308 would be the practical consideration, not the choice that pulls the heartstrings.

257 Roberts. Not really obscure or obsolete, but not as common as it used to be, what with all the newer 'wonder' calibers. It's still a personal favorite in my pre 64 Model 70 Winchester.
