What's you favorite S&W revolver Model and Why?

I only have one, a mid-1960's vintage Model 36, round butt, 2" barrel, that belonged to my grandfather.

I vote for fixed sight k frame (any variation) in 3" or 4". Plain, simple and effective for all your needs.

I'll be a little more general in identifying my favorite. If it has wood grips with the S&W medallion and it's in my hand, then it's my favorite. But, I do have more "J" frames than anything else.

1950 with a four inch barrel. Either M&P or Target. 44 Special. Serves me quite well.

Right now, my new to me pre17, fun to shoot and smooth action. Also,my 686. My pre27 is a real looker.

Favorate S&W Revolver

I can't decide...It depends on what I'm using it for.

My Mod 15 Combat Masterpiece .38Spl. has accounted for many a jackrabbit, but for general plinking and target shooting, my Mod. 34 .22lr Kit Gun is a real "Sweetheart".:D

Both are excellent shooters, with exceptionally smooth actions.:D

Jack...

I have one special one. A model 26-1 that cost me a fortune.

IF I had to choose one to put in a holster and go on a walkabout,
I would have this one cut for moonclips and use it with 45 A.C.P.
and 45 Colt rounds alternately.

My 5" Heavy Duty by David Clements would serve the same purpose and I have shot that one.

Almost any N frame in 45 Colt would do.

Wow, that's a tough call. Lots of nice guns on these pages. It really makes you think. In terms of beauty, balance, versatility, quality, carry-ability, handling, and overall usability, I'd have to agree with Bill Jordan and pick the S&W Model 19 in 4" blued.

I agree. My first wheelgun was a 6" Model 29, (still have it). Much as I like the .44mag, my 4" blue Model 19 is solidly in first place for all the reasons Texagun stated above.

19/66, 4". Carries comfortably, accurate, powerful, light .38s or hot .357s. On top of all that, it's perty.

my 36-1, 3" bbl. two reasons, one it hits what i point it at like a hammer. two, it belonged to a dear friend. a former airborne ranger, who jumped in on d-day. he was a Jewish boy from NY who joined under age to fight nazis and their terrible abuses. i will forever miss Elly and keep the 36 till i die. then it will go to my beautiful daughter. i hope she will treasure it as i do...

I miss all my old Model 19's. Had the 2 1/2" for off duty, the the 4" 19-4 for a duty carry completely tuned and polished and finally I had the 6" customized with a Bomar Rib sight for competition. Now I carry the M&P .45, but you just can't beat those reliable K frame revolvers.

Too many to choose from.

I like the model 58, 29, and 27 with a 3.5 inch barrel.

But my favorite is a 4 inch 357 K or L frame. I know they weren't popular, but if I have one to choose for defense, hunting, and any other shooting chore, give me my model 619.
