I need a good shooter. The ones I have are non shooters now. Too nice and too rare. I need to find one that's not a collector. What do y'all think about the SIG Mosquito?

My experience with the mosquito is that the trigger was beyond terrible.

Perhaps the Ruger (mark II or earlier) or even the Smith 22A.

Factory muzzle brake

Giz,
That's a very interesting Ruger. I've never seen one like it.
Can you tell us more about it. Did the factory do the rib too?
What year(s) was the brake offered.
Thanks!
JLK

Hands down it would be the Model 41, but a recently acquired 617 in 6" is gaining a lot of favor with me.

Favorite 22

I have 3 competion models of Ruger MK II. Any one of the three is a great gun. I have a black model which I like simply because it is black,
not stainless. I put Herrets grips on the black one. They are walnut and
are ambidextrous.

Wow, five pages and no one (but me), loves their 22A? Lot of gun for the buck and too much fun in a 7" tack driver. (o;

The gun is only one of two factory braked Ruger MK I's known. It was shipped with the brake to a distributer, Gil Hebard. He shipped the gun to Simmons in Kansas City to have the rib installed, then sent back to his shop. Done in 1964.

This is my High Standard Victor, with a Falcon barrel, and Vitarbo grips made to fit my hand. It will shoot into less than 3/8" at 50 feet, the only drawback is the very tight match chamber will not accept some brands of ammo.

This past winter, I shot my IZH35M(Russian) which will handle literally any ammo I put though it. Over a 10 week league, (30 round NRA gallery round) I was able to average 271.

I built up the grips some, and painted them, but otherwise it is all stock.

My favorite .22 shooter(2) is either one of my two M-18s.
I had S&W install an 8 3/8" barrel on this one some years ago.
It's a real tack driver.

Sir, probably my Browning Buckmark. It feeds everything and is accurate with most loads I've tried.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

I'm with you there! Smooth as silk and extremely reliable!

Of course this other one of mine is a bit more accurate
Smith & Wesson 3rd. Model Perfected.

Like a few others, mine is my Mod. 18. Was a gift from an uncle at age 14 (I'm now 44). It spits lead out the gap and shoots to the left, but still holds a dear place in my heart. When I get the $$$ I want to send it to S&W for rebuild (if they do that kind of thing).

It would have to be my Ruger MK1 bull barrel purchased new in 1970. I have no idea how many rounds have traveled through it but it has to be in the tens of thousands and never, never a FTF.

I enjoy shooting my Ruger Mk III 22/45 Stainless
with a 5 1/2" Bull Barrel.
Accurate with open sights and/or with Tasco Propoint.
