What's your favorite .45 auto ...

I recently picked up an FN P in 45 ACP. FN, as in FN Hi-Power? Very nice weapon, very nice.

Mine is either DA/SA or cocked & locked, your choise.

Overall it is a little wider, a little taller and a little shorter than a 5 inch 1911. Weighs one ounce more than an all steel 1911. Holds fifteen.

Feeds & fires very well.

i like my x-d .45 compact, but love my kimber pro carryII. neither one will replace my 442 or 60 as the every day companion. kimbers can be a little ammo sensitive, so a polishing is mandatory for feed ramp and chamber. shoot straight, and keep your powder dry!

Dad taught us about revolvers when our voices dropped or about 12 years old. He was LE and didn't go for automatics or allow his officers to carry them. He felt they were a danger to officers and family that didn't use them often enough to be safe. Probably reenforced by the FBI-NA in 1957.

So when my eyes became old enough to require bifocals the MRS and I decided to acquire some automatics and become proficient with them.

This is the year of the 1911 and I wanted a Gold Cup. We ended up with a Colt MK IV series 80 that I think has been customized and looks like a Kimber. It shoots really great and has sorry sights for my eyes. Then came a Sig 1911 STX that is my favorite. Shot it today at the range and loved it. The Sig 1911 TTT predated this 2008 STX and was the Hand Gun of the Year in 2004 by the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence. That is what their book says anyway. Makes no matter I like it and the night sights as well.
