What's your favorite .45 auto ...

I have three M1911A1s. My wad gun is a Les Baer set up for a slide-mounted Ultra Dot. Skeptical as I was when I bought it, this one really will shoot an 1.5" group at 50 yards, using the right load. I'm just not good enough to do that...

My seond is my hardball gun which was built for me by an USMC WTB armorer on an Essex frame and a Colt slide. Extremely accurate and is my backup for bullseye.

My third is a pre-70 Colt National Match. Kept it stock and shoots really well using 3.6 grains of Bullseye and a H&G 68. Easily holds the 10 ring for me at 25 yards off a sand bag.

Waht I'd like to get next is a pre-70s Government model.

I am a fan of polymer handguns and love my .40 Glocks and XD's, but I have not been able to find love for any polymer guns in .45 ACP. Was issued a H&K USP in .45 ACP for a while and hated it.

In .45 ACP, it's hard to beat a 1911, so in that caliber I'll have to stick with my Springfield Fully Loaded.

another one for Sig.... the P220.. revolver simple, not much bigger than a 66 2-1/2 , and in .45 Who could want more?

I was in a local shop this weekend and saw one of the fancy Sigs that had an Officer's length grip with a Commander length slide. It really felt nice and handy.

My 1911 is not very exciting, just an old Ithaca 1911A. But we've been together for around 30 years and I don't see any reason to trade her off now. That's 4 years longer than my wife an I have been together.

Tough question, in the holster every day for the last 8 years is an older series 70 Colt Combat Commander. Before that it was the 1913 vintage GI issue Colt. When I was serious about Bullseye I found a nicely tuned National Match. My Officer's ACP is uncannily accurate but I found I like carrying the Commander better.

My best friend has a Brazilian Navy contract 1937 Smith which looks like it spent its life in the bilge of a submarine, but shoots like a house afire. It would rate right high on my favorites list, but I have been unable to convince him to sell it to me.

I carried a customized Series 70 Gold Cup for several years then drifted away from the 1911 guns and got into the Glocks. Still have a G30 that I won in a match and believe that it is the best of the Glock .45 series.

I recently traded a G21 in on this Kimber Super Carry Pro and am back in love with the 1911. Just under 1K rounds through it now and running like a clock. Excellent workmanship and ergonomics. I have to say that, for me, it is the best fitting concealed carry gun I have ever had.

Uh yeah ... seems like I've seen pictures of that closet ... I mean safe of your 1911s. ;)

What is it about the Les Baer that you like better than the Colts?

You mean warehouse don't you?:)

For just shooting I like my Sig 220 and XD's.

For accuracy Dan Wesson PM 7

This is pretty easy for me as well. My recently acquired CS45 is the only auto that I've liked enough to buy. It hasn't caused me to change my opinion since I got it .... except that I like it more now.
I have to admit that I really liked a friends Kimber when I shot it. As soon as I can find one that I can afford ... oh well.

I have a

and

M&P 45

I just got the M&P so the jury is still out on which I will like better.

My favorite .45 is my S&W 625, revolver. I do have a M&P 45, but no "real" 1911's per say.

The SIG P220 is far and away my favorite 45 auto. Matter of fact my favorite .38 Super is a P220:D

My favourite is my Nighthawk GRP -- there's no question it's by far the best firearm I've ever owned (and I've owned a bunch

). It has an amazingly crisp, light trigger pull, superior workmanship inside and out (it's tightly fitted for sure but amazingly easy to disassemble and reassemble), fantastic accuracy (I've shot it from 7m to 100m, and at 100m I hit a 4" balloon, standing, on my first shot) and the "feel" of the pistol with checkering on the frontstrap and MSH combined with the VZ grips is perfection.

Not sure which is my favorite. Would like an EMP (but too expensive) and in the works for a STI Trojan 9mil

I have about 15 1911's (Colt, Kimber, Sig, Les Baer) which are mostly Colts and a couple of Sig-Sauer P220's but by far the best shooting 1911 that I own is a Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special (TRS) .45 ACP. It is the best shooting 1911 I have ever shot and with no FTF or FTF's at all. It runs like a "sewing machine", It has really spoiled me..... :) :) :)
