what's your favorite bulk ammo?

I was sold on Federal Automatch, but have found the $25 cci standard velocity at Dick's to be damn good for the same money.

I love CCI Standard Velocity as well for when I want to shoot good groups off bench. By far the most accurate 22LR bulk ammo imo.

Since I sent my 15-22 back to S&W for FTE issues, it came back loving the Federal 375/550 bulk packs which it used to FTF/FTE with every 4 rounds before with.

My 15-22s diet is fed 550 bulk from walmart with cci stingers for dessert :p

I decided to try out Fed Automatch when it came out this spring, and I like it quite a bit. Having said that- CCI is my absolute favorite brand. CCI Standard Velocity is a damn good ammo and in my opinion its' better than "bulk" ammo its like 'good-to-better' rimfire ammo but usually is priced around bulk prices. Both great ammo- I like to have a lot of different ammos if I can, for SHTF.

I use standard CCI Blazer 525 bulk pack, i get tight groups and have ZERO issues with it.

I also love CCI Blazer packs- usually great ammo and great deals. The only problems I ever seen to have is , CCI Standard Velocity vs. Blazer bulk - they're both great, both around 500 round packs, both similar in function and price.

NOT THAT MidwayUSA is a good place to buy ammo (MidWayUSA is ONLY good to buy stuff on sale or esp. closeout- the regular prices is full pop markup retail). but for use as an EXAMPLE-

Blazer Ammo .22LR round nose - 500 round, $23.49 (Which I find to be a high price for this- I would pay $19.99 max- only plalce that gets so much for this is like Dick's Sportin Goods, also a place that has high high high prices except for their sales- when they put 40, 9, or say 12ga. on sale you can get good savings, buying regular price from the counter is full markup.

CCI Standard Velocity .22LR round nose 500 rounds - $38.99

WOW - now help me here, do I have maybe my facts wrong and I am forgetting what ammo I pay what price for?

$23.49 for Blazer and ***, $38.99 for CCI Standard??!! tell me this seems redonk and is normally $20. Because, @ $38.99 for standard velocity - it would be cheaper to buy Mini Mags! @ $7 / per 1000, $7 x 5 = $35, I'd buy 500 rounds of Mini Mags EVERY TIME, NEVER would I buy the SV.
NOT

The only ammo I have used through mine is the Walmart Federal 550 bulk pack. It has never failed me once yet.

There's a couple ways to buy CCI Standard Velocity. It comes in plastic boxes of 100 or in bricks of 500 (10 paper boxes of 50 with the same plastic bullet separators as the 100 pack). You will pay more for the plastic boxes of 100 even when ordering 5 or 50 boxes at a time from places like Midway compared to buying a brick of 500 from Dick's for $25.

CCI Blazer is interesting. A couple months ago Sportsman Warehouse had the bricks of 500 (paper boxes of 50 with plastic bullet separators) for about $16. Now they have CCI Blazer in bulk packs of 500 selling for $20.

Blazer, MM and SV are intended for different purposes so price isn't necessarily the overriding factor.
Plinking = Blazer
Target (and popular for suppressed shooting) = SV
Small Game = MM

I had a chance to shoot about 1,000 rounds on Saturday.
Winchester, Remington, and Federal bulk.

Remington was by far the 'dirtiest' and most problematic (multiple FTE's). Lots of loose bb's on cartridges too.
Winchester was good but Federal was definitely the one that stood out.

I'll be buying Fed when buying bulk from here on out

Well I made it to the range today (Tues. 10/18) to try out the bulk Winchester HP's that I bought last week, conclusion, at least 6 FTF's out of two 25 rd. mags. (Not Acceptable!). Will be sticking with the Federal or CCI bulk ammo from now on.

Remington ammo is basically useless and a waste of money to me.

It WILL NOT work in my Remington 597. Simply WOULD NOT WORK before I added the Volquartsen edge extractor and target hammer, now will function mildly but is worthless.

It will barely work in my S&W M&P 15-22 . But not worth the trouble.

It will shoot out of my Savage Mark II GXP - which as a bolt action and Savage I'm convinced will shoot anything but I'm still not happy with the performance of the Remington.

I hear OCCASIONALLY ppl say they like and favor Remington- by FAR most ppl agree with me, that it sucks. Golden Bullet is basically a box of 500 wastes of metal. Then you pay more and get different ammos, they suck the same. And they don't tell you what they're made for. Like if you are persuaded to buy the mor expensive Remingtons by a store employee when you don't know better, and you get Thunderbolts, Yellow Jackets, Cyclones, etc.

Not only don't they work better, but the box doesn't explain what that particular variety is supposed to be/be better at, then you load up Remington.com, and still, each ammo you click on has the same .22LR Rimfire little diddy. No info.

Contrast with CCI- great ammo great info. Remington should really pay me money for having wasted mine on their rimfire ammo when i was a b00bie n00bie.

My friend and I each put a 525 round box of CCI Blazer through each of our 15-22s last weekend. Not one problem on either gun. I put the same ammo in my Sig Sauer Mosquito and couldn't get more than one shot off without a jam, mostly feed issues but some ejection problems. Put a 100 CCI mini-mag through that Mosquito right afterwards with no problems, so it wasn't the gun. Blazer is not great, but is great in the 15-22.

I've also bought the bulk box of CCI .22 Tactical (375 round box). Never had an issue with that stuff, but due to its higher price, I don't know if I'd call it "bulk." Without a single issue with the blazer, I think that's my bulk ammo of choice right now.

I have a 500 brick of Remington Thunderbolt sitting in my cabinet, but I'm afraid to try it.

I also bought a brick of Rem Thunderbolts back early 2010. I complained about Remington ammo to the Dick's that sold me earlier Remington rimfire ammo, and it was "OHJHHH It's ALL ABOUT THE THUNDERBOLTS! THATS WHAT *I* USE AND I'M TRAINING TO BE A GUNSMITH! Oh and of course I work at Dick's, so I'm an expert!"

Well I bought the brick of Thunderbolts not knowing and hey- it was a WASTE! Can't get them to fire out of the 597, wont even trty on the 15-22, and they'll fire out of the Savage Mark II but they're basically worthless. So i wound up giving them out at the range, box of 50 at a time, to ppl who needed ammo, asked for ammo ,wanted to try stuff etc. And I ave some as Super-secret, double-secret-probation, SHTF ammo but other than that, worthless.

CCI All the WAY, Federal close second.

Forum Quiz:

Which one is rated slower than the other (1070fps vs 1050fps) ?

Which one regularly goes supersonic?
Which one always stays subsonic?

Which one regularly will not cycle the rifle?
Which one cycles flawlessly?

Which one is less accurate?

Which one is more expensive?

Hint: Remington Subsonic is rated slower velocity yet regularly goes supersonic, does not cycle well, not as accurate and costs more. Other than that, I highly recommend Rem Subsonic. :D

Don't know if you have a Dick's Sporting Goods in your area but here in Vegas they have CCI Stand Velocity for $25.00 for a brick of 500. Needles to say I stocked up with them.
