Like Rock Doc, my S&W target model 1911 (#108284) is my favorite handgun. It by far is the handgun I feel most confident with when I pick it up in terms of accuracy.
I don't have a lot, but I just love my Spingfield XDS. It's an awesome carry pistol. Lightweight, so compact, very manageable recoil accurate and .45 ACP. It doesn't hurt that it feels great in my hand and it's a handsome piece too.
Before the I lost all my guns in that freak nature disaster they were M-1 Carbine, Springfield Armory 1911 Milspec. and my S&W 686 4" barrel. But alas they are now all melted into a heap of steel and ash.
Here are my favorites. These are the 2 686's that my Dad has given me in the past few years.
Top is a 686 no dash 6 inch made in 1984
the second is a 686-3 4 inch made in 1988
then there is my Ruger Flattop Blackhawk that is a 3 screw.
I see I already answered way back on this old thread. Every time I look through my collection my answer is going to be different. Most all of my guns are "favorites" or wouldnt own them. Yes I could cull out a handful if I was pressed for money but the remainder I would break out in a cold sweat to choose. I am going to post a few pictures of pairs I have to show you my top choices.
A 27-2 and 29-2 both in 5".
24-3 and 25-5
colt SAA`s in .45 colt and .44 special
S&W 66-3 lew horton special 1 of 300 and the competition, a nickle python 2 1/2"
I have some that I "value" more, but for sheer fun I have to say the model 41 with ultra dot sight is the most fun to shoot; low noise, cheap to shoot, plus rewarding when you hit what you aim at!
I'm a bit nostalgic about my favorite guns. My favorite rifle sits in my safe most of the time. It's a Winchester Model 94 .30-30 my dad bought new in 1954, and gave to me 10 years later for deer hunting. It was the first gun I owned, and it still gets used for hunting.
My favorite handgun is my 2 1/2 inch 66-3 that I bought for off duty carry when I first pinned on a badge. It comes out of the safe every night when I get home, and sits in my bedside dresser drawer, just in case I need a friend should SHTF.
While my other guns are dear to me, and each has a role, those two are my favorites because of the amount of history we share.
After 38 years of trading off the lower quality and keeping & buying more better quality, they are all fav's. Like asking which kid is your favorite. Any day you might get a different answer.
