What's your "Go To" HD firearm?

S&W 642, always in my pocket. At night I hang my pants on the bed post and my little revolver is still within reach.

I know its small, but I can shoot it. It's available 24/7, if I'm out and about, setting on my couch, eating dinner, in the car or in bed napping.

I figure a small gun in the pocket beats a heavy gun in the truck or gun safe every time.

Bedroom BHP, living area 586, in front closet a Colt .32-I chnage them all out occasionally-for a Colt Commander, double .410, Colt .380.

S&W 5906 with Crimson Trace grips, loaded with 124gr. Golden Sabres

M&P45 and/or a 870 Wingmaster. It's good to have choices.
Its never a good sign for a intruder when the biggest concern of the home owner is which gun hes going to use first lol!

My dad and I laughed over the "Its good to have choices" a few years ago. Friend and I were planning on going out shooting. For two days we had the coffee table in the living room covered in guns with ammo sitting next to them. It being dreadfully hot in the spare room I crashed on the couch... with in arms reach of a shotgun, rifle, and a few handguns including a 1911 and a 44mag.

Colt 1911 on the nightstand and Winchester Defender if I roll out of bed. LCP will also be on the nightstand but I won't have a pocket to put it in. :D

Glock 23 loaded with 180 grain Winchester Bonded Hollow Point (RA40B). Modern day FBI loads.

Depends on where I am in the house, but my preferred is my Glock 30 with a G21 mag inserted.

My security system starts with a couple of excitable Weiner dogs, a Model 14 filled with the time tested FBI load in my nightstand for fighting my way to the rifles and shotguns in the gun safe in my office. I went with the Model 14 over any others for a couple of reasons. 1) simply because I shoot it far better than anything else I own, 2) low flash, recoil, and blast, 3) simple to operate if I happen to be a bit groggy. A lot of guys say that the 6" barrel is too long and that a perp could get a hold on it, I figure if they get that close, I have already failed.

my first choice!

I would try to grab this one first and maybe the intruder would think I's crazy. Or maybe the S&W prop it's on. Anyone this far out in the boonies breaking in surely has a death wish or just need a beer or something. My 12 gauge is never far from the bed. Man, what a terrible thought. I carry concealed 99% of the time, yet the thought of having to shoot someone is dreadful. Have to be pretty bad. :( Hope it never happens.
Peace,
Gordon

This is a true story.I met a guy at my LGS.We were at the gunsmith counter and he had a 6-61/2 629 that was covered in rust(I mean caked on).I asked what happened and this was his reply"I leave this in the toilet bowel tank.I know somebody is going to break in when I am on the toilet and I want to have a gun".All I could do was stare a moment and say best of luck.

at the very least 2 handguns, 1 for me and 1 for the mrs a sig 226 9mm for her and a sig 220 45 acp and a benelli superblack eagle with an extended mag and 00 buck for me,while I fight my way to the mancave for the serious stuff.

LMT CQB MRP 5.56 rifle wiht a 10.5" barrel that is SBR'd. Why bring a handgun when you can bring a rifle?
