Whats your opinion

Although you can always find an example of whatever model you want for sale, as time goes by it is getting harder and harder to find the example you want in the condition you want for a reasonable price. And, if you are keeping it, it doesn't matter if you paid a little more than you wanted to. If you paid, say 100 bucks more than you wanted that is 20 bucks a year extra if you keep it 5 years....big woop! Enjoy it, I wish I had one like it.

This is 100 percent correct. What is one hundred buck when you find exactly what you want, in the condition you want, and while you can in California the way things are going there.

A never ending dilemma for certain.

FWIW, I remember in the 1970s passing on like new commercial Colt 1911s because the were priced in the $180 or so range. At that time, they seemed really pricey. Of course, WWII Colts went for less, depending on condition, maybe much less. ... But I was too smart to buy at that price. :(

+1

In our always-connected WalMart-ized culture we can too easily get caught in the trap of worrying that we paid "too much" for something..."too much" being defined by what a similar item might cost you elsewhere.

I mentioned in another thread that I recently paid $90 more than the "going rate" for a revolver that I really wanted. I made the right decision.

The question to ask is not whether something might be cheaper if you found it somewhere else; the question is whether the particular item is worth the asking price to you.

If it is, then you didn't pay too much.

EDIT: I should add the qualifier that this is from the perspective of someone (me) who buys guns and keeps them. If you're the type of guy/gal who enjoys buying/trading/selling (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that) then the statements above do not apply.

I agree that all guns have gone up. I have seen in California a K frame magnum go for $650 without a box. I see very few M13s where I live. It was on my short list to buy. Now, I have scored some good buys. I bought a M66-4 4 inch for only $300. I also bought a M19-4 6 inch for $269. Its hard to know when to pull the trigger on a gun you like. I loss a lot of chances to buy a M13 because I thought the price is high. In this case, I was not going to lose this one. Its hardly used with no holster wear.
I have already tagged this one as one of my favorites.

Let's not forget that the actual price was $475 plus tax. A decent price, especially in Kali. Roaddog28 did good. I bought mine new in 1979 for $259 plus tax. Still have it AND the box it came in. A keeper. Good job, RD!
