I know this has been slightly beaten to death, but I'm taking a slightly different tack on it. It seems most of us carry our J's either in our pocket or IWB, but I'm curious as to (between these two) which method you use most.

Mine just rides in my pocket, however I really like IWB carry and have been looking at all of the holster threads and checking all of the options. But, I haven't found any discussion on pocket holsters.

So, what's your preferred method (either a or b, not interested in c) and what kind of holster do you use?

IWB appendix... although recently I've been liking the ankle holster.. mainly for while driving. I never got into pocket carry.. it seems none of my pockets are big enough for me to do so without it looking strange.

Depends on what I am wearing. Cargo pants I prefer pocket carry since I have extra pockets to carry my other stuff in. If I am wearing jeans I prefer IWB since I need a pocket to put my phone in. Sometimes it depends on where I am going. If I'm going to have to leave my gun in the car because I can't bring it with me. I prefer pocket carry since its easier to reholster.

Not sure if this helps as the both have their place. I use RKBA holsters for both.

Heres the link to their site-- both of them work great.

Pocket Carry

In an Uncle Mike's No. 3.

Pocket Roo pocket holster for me. To me at least, if I'm going to go to the hassle of waist carry, then I'm going to carry a more substantial firearm.

I do not use either of your options.

I have an old Kramer (thick horsehide I think) that I wear on the left-front side (crossdraw). Anything I happen to be wearing covers it.

... or are you just glad to see me?

I carry a model 442 in a DeSantis Nemesis in my front right-hand pocket. I had an IWB holster, think it was an Uncle Mike, and I just could not get comfortable with it.

Some pants are better than others when it comes to concealing the pocket holster, but I find that even when I'm looking at my pocket and hearing it scream "Gun! There's a gun in here! Guy with a gun in his pocket!" no one ever sees it. Nowadays, between huge key rings and cell phones and blackberries, most of us look like we have bricks in our pockets anyway.

Mine seems to always be with the Kramer holster and in a pocket.

Just fits perfect in that fashion and provides a plan B should the primary firearm ever be unavailable.

Mostly carry in a fanny pack or camera pouch on my shoulder strap while backpacking. Seldom urban carry, but when I do it is pocket. My IWB has no strap and gave up my gun once to the dirt when I was doing something. So until I get a better IWB the gun is going back in the pocket.

Pocket (Galco pocket holster). If I'm going to carry something on my belt it is going to be larger than a j-frame. :)

First choice is IWB appendix almost daily (the holster is so old & worn I can't tell who made it), pocket next and ankle last.

I ONLY pocket carry my Model 36. I carry it whenever I know I'm going to need to disarm. It's easier to just take gun and holster out of my pocket as a unit and put them in the glove box and then re-pocket them, than to fiddle with a tuckable IWB, trying to get it back in my pants while sitting in my vehicle.
