Pocket only.

If I can conceal an IWB gun, I carry something bigger & easier to shoot.

Generally agree.

I do carry a J appendix IWB around the house pretty often.

I use and really like the "universal" Clip Draw. I don't like the model made for the J.

Robert Mika pocket holster. I can't tolerate IWB. I have a Raven Concealment OWB that is about as concealable as an IWB without the signature discomfort.

I have a taurus 85 that is uncomfortable to shoot with boot grips. The Hogue grips i put on it are too large for my pockets, so i just bought a silver dollar pancake from simply rugged. With the optional straps it's either OWB, IWB, or cross draw. Great design...

Of the two choices, I selected IWB.

Currently I carry my J frame in a shoulder holster primarily, with pocket holster carry occasionally. Notice I don't carry IWB? But if I was limited to your two choices, IWB would be my first choice.

Pocket carry I limit to when the weather is warm enough (only a brief time of this in Oregon) that pocket carry becomes the better way to carry concealed, or when I'm using the J frame as a backup.

Life style, shooting style, clothing style and weather drive my decision. Others may and will decide according to their own.

Peace,

Going to have to say pocket carry in a Galco holster for my 340 which it what I carry all the time. On the rare occasion I carry a 640 it's IWB in a DeSantis holster but, like most here, if I'm carrying IWB it something a lot bigger.

IWB appendix 95%, pocket (always use a holster) and ankle depending on dress and weather the rest of the time (Colt Cobra or S&W 638). I've been carrying this way for over 40 years and that is what works best for me. Your circumstance may vary.

J Frame carry

Usually in my pants pocket. In the winter in the pocket of my coat with my hands in my pocket. If I sense something that could be wrong it brings no attention to me, yet I am prepared. Sometimes I carry a second J frame or Ruger LCR in the IWB holster or ankle holster.

Bianchi leather IWB with a strong steel belt clip for my S&W Model 36 J frame. I can wear this in summer with an untucked T shirt and no one has ever noticed it.

pocket carry in a Wild Bill's holster

my wife carrys her's in a fanny pack

I slipped my new 340pd in my pocket one evening this week, before I went to Wally-world. The next morning I got up, put on the same pants and went to work. Around 11:00am that morning, I slipped my hand into my pocket and realized I'd forgoten the pistol was in my pocket. While kind of scarry in terms of getting fired or maybe worse if I'd been caught with it at work, I'm really pleased with it for pocket carry, and can now honestly say, it disappears into my pocket, I don't even notice it, and thankfully, neither does anyone else! I do still have a few questions since it's so new to me, I was considering accessories, Since it disappears so well into my pocket, do I really need a pocket holster? If so, wich one? Also, what's the best way to carry a quick reload? I've heard people talk about speed strips, but have never seen or used one. Also, since the cylinder is titanium and the frame is scadnium, can I use ordinary solvents? I usually use the cheap Walmart generic brake cleaner from to clean my steel guns. Will this damage the finish or these exotic metals?

(Robert) Mika pocket holster in strong side front pants pocket. I always wear pleated pants to aid concealment.

Wife uses Mika pocket holster in her purse. All of her purses have three separate sections. Middle section dedicated to the j-frame in the Mika holster.

Given your choices, I use a pocket holster more often. However, I use a Renegade ankle holster more often that either IWB or pocket.

J frame carry

I carry my J frame either in the waist band are in a T shirt that has an elastic band for you carry weapon. I sometimes carry a glock 26 in that band. Works well for me. Pocket carry I have the problem of my legs taking up to much room in the pants. Couldn't draw from the pocket if I had to. Ruger LCP I have carried in the watch pocket and behind a wide belt. Done that several times to see if anybody sees it. Always among friends. So far no one has noted it.

J-frame Carry

When wearing Jeans I'd carry inside pocket with Bianchi. Slippery inside, high friction outside. Beau Coup cheap. InT-shirt and running shorts I used Galco Bellyband

I carry my Model 38 in my front pocket and have for a long time. After years of reading that I needed a pocket holster, I bought an Uncle Mike's. I don't really think it adds anything to pocket carry (I wear jeans) but I'm still getting used to it. I DON"T want the trigger guard covered when I pocket carry.

If I carry IWB, it'll be a 19 or a 66 or a 3913 or an H&K USP.

I have a little Model 36, with the hammer bobed and an Armoloy Finish that I carry in a Bianchi IWB Holster on occasion.
