What's Your Town's Claim to Fame?

Cheyenne Frontier Days, and they hanged Tom Horn here a while back.

Our city attorney is famous.

Tullahoma, TN

Tullahoma is the only town in the U.S. with that name. The home of Arnold Engineering Development Center, the U.S.A.F.'s premier research and development center with one of, if not the largest, wind tunnel. If it flies, glides or has wings or an engine, it was probably tested here. Yes, we have the "chicken gun" to test the canopy of jet fighters.

During WWII it was the third largest town in TN with the advent of Camp Forrest, a huge training facility. We still use a portion of the orginal rifle range for high power competition. Patton trained his 3rd Armor Division here before heading to England.

The third largest gay, lezbian, transgenderd community center in the Midwest. Also the Woodward Dream Cruise originated here. Largest one-day automobile event in the world (40,000+ vehicles and over 1 million people).

Rufus Lumley made my home town famous with:

"I've seen Fargo North Dakota,
Butte, Montana and Cheyenne.
But it's Minneap'lis, Minnesota,
where a man can be a man."

Grain Belt Beer used to be brewed here.

It is the Capital City of North Dakota and Satual Page played minor league base ball here.

I've lived in too many Downriver communities to claim a single town, so take your pick:

Biggest tire (as noted above), 2nd largest car cruise in MI, muskrat dinners, home town of Lucille Ball and other celebs, etc.

I live in Sacramento, California. Home to the leftist whackjob liberal hacks that are ruining this state and setting the socialist pace for the Country.

We will be moving within the next year to one of the Free States.

Kansas City MO

Best BBQ in the world!!!!!!!! :D

And really bad sports teams. :(

All.
The train that leaves Contention at 3:10 arrives here much later and delivers folks to the Territorial Prison.

Used to live in West Point, Ca. Claim to fame; Kit Carson & John C. Freemont crossed the Sierras in 1843- 44. Spent a fortnight where the town now stands. Had to let the horses & mules get fattened up for return trip East. They discovered Carson Pass over the Sierras.

Basingstoke, England. Dullness - nationally ranked as one of the most boring places in the UK. Also known as Basingjoke, Boringstoke.

Largest In-Land port in the United Stated, but still no major attractions-go figure.

Santa Cruz, CA. - Surf City USA.
And I need to mention the Monterey Bay is here for your enjoyment.

Also, Clint Eastwood's movie "Sudden Impact" was filmed here. The Boardwalk rides are still up & being used including the Carasel. My grandson is finally tall enough this year to ride the Big Dipper rollercoaster. Free summer concerts are still offered on the beach. Saw Blue Oyster Cult there last year
