What's your WOW! 9mm? (Or .38 special)?

My S&W 952-1, absolutely a delight in all seasons.

My NIB (when I bought it a few years ago) Model 539. It's basically a carbon steel framed model 39-2.

It's the perfect size for a do it all gun: big enough for home defense, compact enough for carry. With new factory S&W mags, it offers 9+1 in a slim single stack profile.

I did a similar thinning of the heard some years back to get the collection down (mostly) to what I shoot. The good news is that there was no need to trim down any further than the essential couple of dozen or so.

Anyway, I like accurate guns that are easy to shoot. Consequently, my go to 9mm Semi Auto is my S&W 1911 Pro followed closely by my 5" M&P Pro.
In revolvers, it would be some flavor of 38/357 in a 5" barrel . Likely my 627PC but followed closely by a 686+ (Pro or Talo)

I have often sold guns in order to buy others. I recently sold several Model 94 Winchesters that I was not using and never will in order to buy a Beretta Onyx O/U 12 gauge. I was wanted a classy O/U and one of the reasons is because I am such a terrible wing shot. With this Beretta I can shoot badly and still look good!!!! :D

Some years ago I dumped a SIG P226, two Norinco 1911 .45s, and I forget what else - oh, I know, a Colt Mustang+ with mother of pearl stocks - so I could buy a Browning Hi-Power and I think that's also when I bought my S&W .38-44. Both of those are WOW guns.

I need to get a picture of that BHP.

One gun I always wanted was a SIG P230 - I think it is just about the prettiest firearm ever made. My problem is I can't justify adding another .380 to an over crowded gun safe with similar sized .380s in there that I don't want to part with.

Star Model S

No picture of the Beretta FS85 Cheetah.

Those are both such great .380 caliber pistols so adding another one just because it is WOW PRETTIER - I can't make myself do it. :(

I had a 952-1 myself,to which I added Nill grips.
A superb gun in perfect shape. I sold it some years ago.Fair enough $$ for then, but if I had kept it, it would have been worth considerably more now.

I have a small collection of true Performance Center Smith & Wesson pistols and on each of them, I was patient, had saved up cash and was also lucky to find them and have the opportunity to buy them under market. Some were good deals, some were GREAT deals.

I had again been saving money so that I could be ready for an opportunity... and I found one that is absolutely scarce and just plain hard to find at all. It's a 5-inch PPC-9 and unlike the others, I paid market price for this one. It's the most money I have ever spent at once on a single firearm, and I have no regrets.

When I stop and think about how it compares to some of my other great handguns and factor in how much money I dropped to get it, it doesn't stand out as my "greatest conquest" but a few facts remain: it is truly elite, gorgeous, very rare & exclusive, incredibly accurate and with a totally inspiring feel of precision quality craftsmanship.

I absolutely love it. I would love it maybe 5% more if I also got a helluva deal on it, but that didn't happen. It was a solid buy and it won't lose value.

If you have never handled true S&W PC Limited target pistols, there's a good chance that you really have no idea whatsoever how phenomenal these pistols are. The 952 shown above by Ed Fowler is an example.

I put a couple Glocks that I never shoot on consignment in order to fund a new 329PD. Been wanting one for a LOOOOOONG time. Not really 9mm, I know.

On the 9mm subject, STI has been kind of nagging in the back of my head . . .

Wow 9s.....

I have a Sig, an S&W Third Gen, a Shield that are all pretty Wowie. I have a Kel tek P11 that works well, but doesn't have any Wowie at all.

My son has a Springfield XD that is diseased with Wowie

His Taurus is OK, but I do like the hammer type.

I have two J frames that are excellent guns, but not a lot of Wowie. My Wowiest gun is my 686. I'll get rid of everything before that.

Favorite 9mm a BHP, the CZ is close and my favorite .38 is any K frame that happens to be in my possession!

I've got a couple of Model 10-5's, a 4" and a 5" (with box and papers) that I don't think have ever been fired, and I doubt I ever will. I could see trading them for something else.

I'm not really sure for what though. I'd know it when I saw it. :)

One of my all time favorite 9's. IWI Baby Eagle II. Heavy but accurate. I have the 40cal and 45 ACP versions as well.

My favorite 9mm is my 9mm/.38 Super DW Specialist. The gun's weight really makes a cream puff to shoot...and it's ACCURATE!

My favorite .38/.357 (I only carry .38 +Ps) is currently my 640-1 Pro. Both are keepers!

I don't sell guns to directly fund other guns, I sell because oftentimes I find they just don't have that certain je ne sais quoi, or I have too many of a particular example.

While I'm pretty content with what I now have, I wish I hadn't traded away several classics I owned years ago, including a Diamondback .38, 686, Savage 99, and Benelli m2 (to name a few.) I have a yearning for a Sig P225, and I just missed a good forum deal on one that I would have snapped up in heartbeat, had I found the FS posting in a timely manner.

I would part with my Kahr CM9 and Glock 42 plus some cash for a nice Browning HiPower that has had the trigger worked.

I would also trade my Smith and Wesson 327 PC snub nose toward a 327 Night Guard if I could ever find one.

Star made the S in .32 acp as well. (Such perfect proportions.) Used to have one of each, but one of my sons took a liking to them.

I think I've got two of my wow .38s, both 3" M-64s. But I didn't have to liquidate anything for them.

I can't think of a .38 or 9mm I'd give up a whole lot for. Maybe an H&K P7.

I've actually never owned a 9mm. There's a 3913 en-route, so we'll see if it wows me.

Mine would be either a Sig P229 Legion or a S&W Performance Center.

I've had a couple Hi Powers, and 9mm Colt Commanders, I think that's it for 9mm. They were all excellent shooters but got sold due to other interests. I recently bought a nice older S80 Colt in 9mm because I found a case of ammo in a cupboard and needed a gun to shoot it in.

I'd really like to get myself another Hi Power, an original Beretta 92, or a P-38. The one P-38 I've tried gave me that WOW factor, someone I know has one he let me shoot a couple mags through it and I need one of my own now.

Pick up a Sig P226 Legion SAO, a traditional Legion DA/SA and then grab a Colt AR15 in 9mm (swap out a decent trigger)....you've got 3 of the most reliable, accurate and 100% combat worthy 9mm's. Make sure you also have a Glock 19. Just because.

Then stock up on a pile of mags for all.

Would mind adding a Colt Series 70 9mm to the menagerie here. A SIG P210 as well.

Got the Luger and the Hi-Power covered.

There are 20-something .38 Special revolvers here so got that covered too.
