When carrying the Shield concealed

I was carrying the 8 round mag practically 100% of the time since it gave me a three finger grip even though it printed a bit more than the 7 round mag.
Then I read of this forum about the Pierce grip extension that gave the 7 round mag just a little more surface for my pinky without the extra on the back of the mag (I have XL size hands).
Now I carry the 7 round mag with extension and carry the 8 round as a spare.

I'm the same as you there. I hardly even shot the 7 rd til I got the Pearce extensions. The 7 rd with the Pearce gives me the perfect grip. I shoot better with it and draw just as well. Now I hardly ever shoot the 8 rd.

Wouldn't it be possible to just superglue the sleeve to the magazine in place? If it's glued to the magazine itself, the magazine floor plate would still be removable, right? This would allow you to use the 8-round magazine without worrying about the sleeve moving around. I've ordered two extra 8-rounders, and my intent is to glue the sleeve in place. Ive seen a Youtube video where a guy over-inserted his 8-round mag and damaged the pistol. Definitely not a good idea to use the 8-round without the sleeve.

7 rounder for carry, 8 rounder for backup. That added height really makes a difference in concealing for me.

7rd carry and 8rd spare mag

I use a remora for both IWB and pocket carry with 7rd mag, and use remora mag carrier for 8rd mag, which is especially good for grabbing the spare mag. Agree with others that 7rd mag best for concealability for firearm

Shorty mag, no need for extra round. Train with what u carry. And train to end the battle as quickly as possible. If u have to empty more than a mag. Chances are u habe already lost.

I train with mine several times a week. I even try to train with it once a day if I have time. Maybe I train too much or maybe others just don't train enough at all.

I carry the 6 round mag with Pearce ext in my 40 shield. Carry the 7 round as back up. I wanted something I could easily conceal in a t shirt and shorts.

I prefer the 7 rd magazine. I want my gun to be as concealable as possible. For the sake of carrying extra round, the 8 rd mag isn't worth it to me.

Now, winters down here don't require layer over layer over layer, but if I'm wearing a sweatshirt or sweater, the 8-rounder is more likely to work. I will let you know later this year, lol. ( I didn't do it this past winter more than once before switching to the 7).

It may depend on your own state laws regarding concealed carry, some states offer protection from those who would holler "brandishing"....
myself, I like the 8rnd.

This is all good info I'm replacing the M&P9c, I just bought
The 9shield today I really can't wait to see the different look.
And range it tomorrow yup.

This is going to be really embarrassing, but here goes. I use a fanny pack... I mean a tactical belt pack... to carry. This eliminates all worry of accidental exposure, with a substantial hit to my cool. I wear it under a long shirt, you can't even really see it.

That being said, while carrying in my home state, Washington, I don't worry about printing because it's open carry. Same with Arizona and Utah, where they are again open carry. But yeah, fanny pack. So I will always use the 8 rounder, and carry an additional two 8 rounders.

It sounds like a very practical carry option. While traveling, I could see doing this. For work or everyday carry, I'm not so sure I could get use to it just because of the extra bulk. But that's just me. I wouldn't be embarrassed by it at all.

A little different take on the 7 vs. 8 round magazine for me. I'm left handed, wear a lg. / xlg. glove, and prefer the slightly longer grip afforded by the 8 round magazine. But,I find that the slightly longer grip (vs. when using the 7 round magazine) also positions my hands in such a slightly different way as to cause me to inadvertently apply pressure to the magazine release, causing the 8 round magazine to drop slightly from the magazine well.

So far, in several thousand rounds, I'm unable to recreate the grip / magazine release problem using the 7 round magazines or while firing left hand, one-hand only but consistently release the magazine once per magazine fired using the 8 round magazines and two-hand, left hand grip.

Doesn't make me like the Shield 9mm any less, I just restrict the 8 round magazines for range use and use the 7 round magazines exclusively for concealed carry.

I always carry the 8 round magazines. The only way I can use the 7's is with a Pearce pinkie extender and with that magazine, it conceals about the same as with an 8 round magazine,
