When did they do away with the washers on wooden grips?

I've got a beautiful set of S&W K/L Targets. I think they're Goncalo Alves wood. But they don't have the washers.

When did they start using these? On what models?

Also, would 586/686 "no dash" target grips have come with washers?

Thanks.

I think they did away with the washers on the K,L,N Frames around 1985 or 1986. They continued to use them on the J frames.

Sir, the 25-9 I bought new in 1990 came with washers in the factory targets; the 66 I bought new in '92 also had washers in its magnas. Must have been after that.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.
