Where are all the Shields???

I got lucky after being persistent the since it came out in mid-April. Called a LGS last week and they had one and held it for me. All of the other LGS's sell them as soon as they come in or have a list. I was told by a couple of stores to be reayd to wait 6-12 months.

My LGS has only had 3, two 9's and a 40 I feel very lucky to have got the 2nd 9mm just after it was put on display over a month ago. This gun has to be in the running for "Gun of the Year".

my local store , Larrys Pistol and Pawn in Huntsville Al just got 30 in. i bought one of the 3 they got on release day.

What was Larry's asking for them? I picked one up at JC's on Jordan Lane 2 weeks ago for $459 because it didn't seem like Larry would ever get any.

I picked up a 9, when they were released for $399 plus tax.

A friend of mine works there, and called me to tell me they had just been released.

Picked up mine from Larry's Pistol and Pawn yesterday . They were listed at $429 but you can wheel and deal them down . They still had a stack when I left . Look them up online , they do ship .

I had been looking around for one locally and wasn't finding any at all. My elder Son and I went to Cabela's in Maine one Saturday, and they didn't have one either. At that point I just wanted to see one and hold it in my hand. The following Thursday, just happened to be my birthday, I visited a small, local Gun Shop, Skip's in Bristol, NH, and low and behold, just putting it on the shelf was a 9mm, just what I wanted. It was, after all, My Birthday. I will add that it seems to be perfect so far. I've put 300 or so rounds through it and not a problem. I have 2 holsters, a Fobus OWB Paddle, and a Blackhawk IWB that is sized for sub-compact 9mm. Utilizing either holster it serves the purposes I was after. A 9mm, very concealable, light weight, fool proof design, semi-auto weapon for every day carry wearing anything from a sport coat to a "T" shirt.

Woodbury Outfitters is another gunbroker that gets them in. They are in Ohio. I called every day for almost two weeks and scored a 9mm.
Very pleased.

I finally found one at Gander today. The Minneapolis-St. Paul area has been out for a long time. Two gander stores close to me each received three 9mm and three.40's. All six gone in under four hours! I was lucky enough to call when they had one left and they held it for me. Even dealers are amazed at the popularity of this gun.

Picked mine up April 13th, and as far as I know I am the only one around here with the 9mm version. The shop I go to had a 9mm and a .40 and can't get them because of back order. Most other shops had only seen the Shield online or in print.

I do not have a big gun retail store near me so I had to buy my Shield on GunBroker, yes I did pay a premium but I had been saving for one and when I finally got the money there was only one on GunBroker. It cost me $556.00. I didn't care I wanted the 9mm and so I bought it. Several 40 cals a lot less.

Wow, think I'll just ride it out till the frenze dies down.

Although my main firearm is always a J-frame, I'll stick with my Colt New Agent for small semi-auto 9mm carry and shooting until the Shield frenzy dies down. I'd rather the inevitable kinks get worked out of the first production run before I get one anyway.

Getting my 9mm off layaway tomorrow, paid $399. Another dealer in my town has the 40 for $379, had about 6 of them last Saturday, gonna check tomorrow. Might have to have one of those, too.:)

I walked into Fishermans Suppy in Oregon City begining of May and the guy behind the counter said check this out and pulled out a brand new Shield. I went home with it that day. Cleaned it the same day and went up to a local range, put 50 rounds through it and it never skipped a beat. Carried it with me on my Harley on a 2 1/2 week trip to AZ. Have now put several boxes of rounds through it and still shoots better than I can hold it. Really like it and it conceals in my riding vest very well. :)

If you call all the LGS within 50 miles and leave a message, you should find one. The smaller shops seem to be the best since they often don't have a waiting list. Also, try the websites listed here.

There are always members here listing places to find them. This is how I find mine. I also passed the information on to a member about a LGS that had one. If you read this forum constantly, you will find one very soon.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the resposes guys. Just got my concelled weapons training today and Im ready to pick one of these guys up. Thinking about going with the 40 instead of the 9 since they are easyer to find.

Off the subject but.....OP do you have a Toyota Mr2 and a Yamaha R6?

Haha you are the first to realize what my screen name stands for!

Nice. I had a 91t for 7yrs. My mod list was pretty long as well. It made 375hp on pump gas and 442whp on race gas. I sold it and now have a C6 Corvette that I love. -Wade-
