I turned 60 a few months ago, and I went in a restaurant the other day and noticed that their senior discount is for 60 and over. I am wondering what benefits you might know of for seniors. It doesn't have to be 60 and over, I'm sure some of us that are past 65 might find out something also. It will be nice to see it in print also, since many of us have CRS.

I usually ask if there's an Old Folks Discount. Usually get one :)

At 62 the National Park Service will give you (well, sell you for $10) a Senior Pass -- good deal if you're a camper or just like to visit our national parks - Usually pays for itself the first time you use it.

That's just what made me start this thread. I found my late father's "Golden Eagle" card the other day. I remember he called it a ruptured duck.

Not so long ago they were common at age 50.

Too many of us and less competition for seasoned citizen's $$$ now.

In Kentucky, at 65 you can get a seniors' combination license to hunt and fish. Includes trout stamp, deer permits, spring and fall turkey hunting, wildfowl, and everything but the Federal waterfowl stamp. Also available to people certified to be disabled.

Five bucks a year. One of the great bargains anywhere.

I'm 75 and look as if that's in dog years, so I just automatically receive whatever senior discount is offered.

Some of the buffet style restraints, ie Golden Coral, just ask some have it posted. It's only about a dollar but what the hey.

Not just for us old foggies but you can get a Access Pass with proof of disability for National Parks. "A free, lifetime pass - available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability - that provides access to more than 2,000 recreation sites managed by five Federal agencies."

You can also try here but a lot is by locations.

The city jail here has a "Seniors" drunk tank, as a means of keeping the young thugs from victimizing elders in a most repulsive fashion.

I hear they've Christened it the "rburg drunk tank" Got plenty of toilets for the old guys with the prostate problems. :D
Charlie Sherrell came out of retirement to consult on certain design elements and is now warden in charge ;)

Here's a couple. :D

Senior Discounts

...waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told
me that seniors over age 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.

Being of 'that' age...I figured I might as well ask for the discount too.

This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.

Usually you have to ask, some people get insulted by being offered a senior discount.

Hi! For those of you who are Seniors or those of you who know Seniors ~
Surprise !!! Some GOOD news for a change!!!

As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.

This list may not only be useful for you, your friends and family, but it might also be appreciated by your clients. You might consider sending them an e-mail about it and link to our site in the e-mail, or maybe include it in your newsletter.

Hmmmm, Dunkin Donuts gives free coffee to people over 55. If you're paying for a cup every day, you might want to start getting it for free.

I have already been told that A&P supermarkets offers 5% off to people over 55 every Tuesday. If you know of any other senior deals that aren't on the list, please add them.

NC offers free lifetime hunting and fishing licenses to instate seniors.

I LOVE the senior discount. I'm only 48, but I have a bunch of really cool gray hair. (See Proverbs 16:31). First time I got offered the discount I was 42. I have no problem with that. If they want to assume I'm 55, the Fiscal Conservative in me will gladly take it.:D
Plus, Missus P&R Fan is almost 5 years older than me. She loves it when they think I'm an old guy.

Reading the list above. Kroger has a 10% off Kroger brand (anything as long as it is store brand) all the time for us old timers. I believe I started getting it 11 years ago at 60. Not a bad deal and the store brand stuff ain't bad until I get done cooking it.

On a job somewhere we had a guy that was only 88 but looked older.
At Golden Corral he'd ask for the senior discount and the hostess would always say = *Oh come on - you have to be over 60. Let's see some ID*

It was his favorite restaurant :)

Few years ago I went to the local "pay to play" fishin' lake. Always got a discount with my retired .mil ID. Guy looked at it and told me I qualified for the (larger) senior discount. :(

Banana Republic: 10% off (50+)

How may 50+ buy clothes at Banana Republic?

I guess gifts would be included.

I recently ate at a Golden Corral. The cashier gave me the senior discount without me asking for it. I had mixed emotions. I never asked for a LEO discount even though some of the places gave it without my asking. They liked to have us in there, especially after midnight when the bar crowd came in. That said, I applied for and received my free senior hunting and fishing license today. That one didn't bother me as I had bought the expensive sportsman license for decades. I probably won't use it as much anyway as I don't get up at 3:00 a.m. to go do stuff as much as I used to
