While I'm no expert from my observations "cokes" have checkering further down to bottom of the grip and a half coke bottle profile when viewed from the rear and of course the uncheckered diamonds around the grip screw
The Eagle's at first glance look pretty close, they don't have the washers though and a close inspection will show they're not S&W. They're pretty nice though if you don't want to spend $500-$800 for "cokes."
Pictured is my Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector 4th Model 44 Target Model of 1950 (Pre-Model 24) revolver with factory "PINTO" finish (authenticated by Smith & Wesson Historical Society letter) and sporting (non-original) Goncalo Alves "COKE" Stocks.
Nice, but that one deserves a separate thread all of its own if you haven't posted one before. Don't think I've ever seen a 1950 Target 44 Pinto. How about a new thread with some of the story as to how you found it; that will probably result in a few more Pintos showing up.
I agree with the post about the checkering lower on the grips. I've also noticed the butt on cokes is more oval in shape than Target grips that are more rectangular. I have a pair of cokes. Send me a PM Peyronie for some photos.
I have a set of the heritage cokes I found on EBAY by accident for 100.00. They are worth it and they are walnut. A wood that seems to be cast aside lately in favor of the more figured woods.
I have a set of Keith Brown cokes that I bought on a whim. They are really nice.
