Do you actually carry?
Yes.

Do you carry the same gun all the time?
No. Cycle through several as the mood strikes me.

Do you carry every day?
Not everyday. Anytime I leave the house, except to go to work or church.

What kind of holster/ carry device do you prefer?
IWB primarily.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR HOLSTERS??
Concealment Solutions, but I'm also about to order one from Simply Rugged

Carry a Glock 19 year round everyday in a custom all leather IWB holster. Occasionally use a Fobus paddle holster.

Hybrid holsters just aren't as comfortable as all leather. There seems to be quite a bit of competition out there for hybrids.

Bought it from K&D Holsters. (now defunct) :(

I now carry my G19 everyday in a Milt Sparks Criterion IWB. It is by far the best holster I have tried. I bought it direct from Milt Sparks. I just wish they made one for the M&P Shield.

I appendix carry (Lobo offset IWB) or a jacket pocket in a DeSantis nemesis.

Maker, internet.

I have boxes of holsters that didn't quite work I've collected over the years. LOL, I'm still buying them.

I am a small dealer who teaches & sells CC weapons & gear. I have had no action on holsters. I handle a lot of the best brands of hybrids. (leather+ Kydex) I am wondering what percentage of the CHLs we're teaching are actually carrying. I want to know what you guys think.

1. Do you actually carry?
2. Do you carry the same gun all the time?
3. Do you carry every day?
4. What kind of holster/ carry device do you prefer?
5. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR HOLSTERS??

Answer any or all of these you want. I'm only polling the equipment source.

Thanx, Roady

1. Yes, I actually carry. (Whatever that means?)

2. Yes, and no.

I carry either a Glock Model 21, or a Glock Model 19. Each pistol is extensively rebuilt to my own specifications. Whenever I carry either one I usually do so for several months at a time before switching to the other. Then the cycle repeats itself.

I should, probably, add that I also practice extensively with whatever pistol I'm carrying at the moment. When I carry the 9mm I'll burn through a thousand, or two, 9mm practice rounds. When I carry the 45 ACP I consume equal amounts of 45 ACP practice ammo. My regular practice includes a lot of holster work; so a good useful holster that is also (relatively) easy to conceal is important to me.

3. I not only carry everyday, I sleep with my EDC too. Cleaning the crud off my pistol, and brushing my teeth before going to bed are second nature to me. :D

4. I like to use several different holsters. Most frequently I use Blade-Tech custom Kydex holsters which I wear ITB.

These are standard holsters that I simply swap the hand on; i.e.: a RH OTB holster becomes a LH ITB. (It's OK. I'm ambidextrous, so an ITB carry holster can just as easily become an OTB range holster for me whenever I need it to be.)

My preferred EDC position is usually an appendix carry at 1:30 on my belt. (Because I drive a lot; and, when I'm behind the wheel, a right-handed appendix draw works very well for me.)

My second preferred carry position is at 4:30 o'clock. This makes for a slower draw; but it has the advantage of keeping the muzzle in a generally safer position in relationship to my lower extremities.

5. I buy holsters (and magazine carriers) from a variety of different sources.

The, 'good stuff' comes from Matt Del Fatti, and Wm. Tucker. I've got some nice leather from El Paso Saddlery, too. My usual (working) EDC holsters, though, are from both Blade-Tech, and Blackhawk - Whose SERPA holsters I actually like; but, then again, I practice a lot with them.

"Do you actually carry?"
Yes, I carry most of the time.

"Do you carry the same gun all the time?"
No, at the moment I primarily carry my S&W Shield, but on occasion substitute it with a Ruger LCP.

"Do you carry every day?"
Yes.

"What kind of holster/ carry device do you prefer?"
When possible I really like pocket carry. That's the only way I carry the LCP, and the Shield goes into the pocket of my cargo shorts just fine. I have Galco pocket holsters for both. A good belt keeps things from looking too droopy. Otherwise I prefer a OWB pancake style holster. I have a Lobo Enhanced Pancake for the Shield. Least favorite, because it's more uncomfortable is IWB. I have an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck and a N82 for the Shield. They don't have much mileage on them.

"WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR HOLSTERS??"
There is no single answer. I've bought a number of holsters off the LGS rack over the years. The only one I currently use much is the Galco Pocket holster for my Shield. The Lobo and Alien Gear were ordered online from the makers. The Galco pocket holster for the LCP was ordered via Amazon.

You're in a tough spot as a small business. You really need to have some sort of holsters to offer customers that buy guns, but you can run yourself into bankruptcy trying to keep a stock of high quality holsters for a wide variety of guns. And, unless you have a supplier that will get you product fast (i.e. wholesaler with a big stock) it's hard to compete with what people can order for themselves off the internet, either direct from the source or via Amazon, etc. And some of the best makers, like Lobo, sell only direct.

At the risk of thread drift, how many posters here have complained about the demise of the local gun shop?
If a gun store had 100,000 different holsters in stock, odds are they still wouldn't have what the next customer is looking for.

Holsters are a nightmare to stock in my opinion.

I'm a regular Army officer, so I don't actually have the right to carry a firearm most of the day.

Off-post, I usually go with either a Glock 19 or a Glock 42. I purchase my CC holsters directly from Raven Concealment. In my experience Raven offers the best Kydex in the business with the best fit and a proper amount of tension.

I'm always outside the waistband. I really despise the IWB holsters. Just not my deal.

Out in the woods or desert, I go with a Model 27 in a leather OWB holster.

So true...............

a thought...........

Add a few bucks to a gun's price....... and spend 15-20 minutes with the "new" customer...... helping him/her find the "type" of holster/belt needed.....on line............. and place the order on his card (maybe ship to your shop)......

make a happy customer for life.....next gun, ammo, targets...... on and on!

Make sure he understands that most active shooters/carriers have more than one holster.....
