where is all the federal bulk ammo??

yup 3 local walmarts ive checked are out of the bulk .22 and 9mm and have been for about a month. i know gander mountain had a bunch of champion and cci tactical when i checked a few weeks ago.

Im off work the next 6 days due to vacation, the minute I am back, going to be checking the onhands and local walmarts with computer everyday..guess its a good thing for me since I can access other stores on hands and check all at once

In my cabnet!! Lol jk... i go to fleet farm down the road from me.. all the basics always in stock.. fed 525s remmy gbs chester 333s and 555s, cci blazer 550, always a full shelf of each...
Allso always small packs stocked on hand.. chester 37grn 100pk, 40grn 100pack, wold cats thunder bolts,.. fed 31 & 40grns, cci mini mags both round nose an hollows, velocitors, stingers, cbs short and long...... yeaaah i got my ammo needs covered
I wish Fleet Farm had the Blazer. They have been out since their outdoor event a few months ago. Good thing I bought what they had left at the show for $15 a box of 500. But now I am running out. The 3 wm around me have been out of fed bulk and hand gun ammo now for over a month and do not know when they will get any in.
Anyway FF has fed bulk on sale this week so I will be stocking back up until I can get more Blazer (that has run flawlessly in all my 22s)

While on vacation. I checked with 8 walmarts near my hotel for federal. Found 1 wally world on the way home that had 3 boxes so I bought two. Came back to work today to check the prenote report and see 60boxes of federal on todays truck :O , makes me mad, but happy same time..Warehouse is out again..I just hope 1 or 2 of these 60 boxes last until next thursday for payday :(

8 Walmarts near your hotel? Getting to be worse than Starbucks! :D

Well my weekend was nothing but car activities and one activity was a poker run. Did alot of driving and called many walmarts at every stop I had haha. Just kept driving and getting closer to another

i'm in south Florida. Im gonna just have to order online when i get paid this week.

I'm in South Florida as well, check the Walmart website and it will tell you where it is in stock. I just checked and it showed Federal Bulk packs at the Sawgrass Mills location (limited stock), Coral Springs off Turtle Creek Rd and a few other locations. I was at the Davie location off Flamingo yesterday and they were out, but I picked up the Winchester 555 pack which I have never tried before so I will find out this weekend how it shoots.

I wonder if we could organize a group buy direct from the factory? Of course, would have to find a few guys that all lived close to each other to avoid individual shipping costs

I fly radio control airplanes, and a few guys in my club organized buying a mass quantity of fuel, drove the price down from 16 per gallon to about 11.

IF, and that's a BIG IF, you could get ATK (the parent company for Federal, CCI, Speer and couple of other brands) to sell direct to some group, I would be surprised if the minimum purchase was less than a million rounds and probably more.

Manufacturers do not like to step outside their established distribution channels, and there may be contractual factors against it. A deal with a distributor might meet with more success. In any case, a purchase would likely be shipped to only one location. Further distribution would be the group's problem. One more thing, payment would probably the full amount up front.

My LGS had a million+ rounds of Federal Champion bulk last month and sold it for $170/case. They probably paid $100-$115/ case. If you could buy it for even $115, that comes to about $22k plus shipping.

Just food for thought ...

Keeps us fellow south floridians posted on how the Winchester 555 treated you! :D

You should talk to the WALLY WORLD MANAGER, and maybe even write corporate.

If the manager only orders when completely out, it can lead to problems for other customers.

I'VE SEEN GUN SHOW DEALERS BUY IT ALL AND TAKE TO THE SHOWS AND RESELL IT!!!!!!!!!

Talking to a manager wont do anything. They can order, but if nothing is in warehouse then nthing they can do about it. It will just say that they have X amount on order. There is no way to find out when they come in untill it says in transit..then from there you can see how much, what truck, it will be on.

Writing corporate will be a better idea. Keep the shelves stocked for a higher demand..as in ordering more andmore from Fed

Good call on checking the website. :)
I went to one of the local Walmarts I hadn't been to before (I actually didn't know it was there until today cuz it's so close to my usual spot) & picked up all the Federal 550 boxes they had - all two of them. Their website is already updated to "out of stock."

Should at least hold me over till the next gun show in a few weeks. :D
(odds are I won't find a better deal anyway.)

I just picked up another 4500 rounds from Cabela's, $10.39 per box (375). They're still available online with free shipping to store or with a club card.

I found out that what Walmart says is "in stock" on their website isn't necessarily true when you get to the store. Checked online on Thursday evening and it said that my store had the Federal bulk in stock, but when I went to the store on Friday around noon I found an empty shelf. I figured that maybe someone had bought whatever was left in between the time I checked online and when made it to the store, but when I got home it still said "in stock".

Bought two more boxes of the Winchester 555 instead.

Talked to the employee who checked me out and he actually knew what he was talking about and wasn't just another employee with a key to the ammo cabinet, which was refreshing for a change.

Back during the 45 ACP shortage this happened to me often. Come to find out. When the new shipments arrived, store employees would stash all but a token amount for themselves or friends. The ammo shows as in stock, but it's no where to be found. The last time I went there looking for 22 they had two 100 round boxes on the shelf. The guy in front of me asked about it so I chimed in as well. The woman at the counter said "we may have some here" and opened the cabinet under the register. It was full of bricks of hollow point; I passed. They all know what's going on, but it's a bit of a conspiracy and nobody talks. JME Ron

This has been a problem with WM employees for about the last 10 years. In some cases it is the sporting goods dept manager who's behind the so-called shortages. That's why WM ceased to be my source of ammo many years ago.

Me too.. I despise going there for ammo.. I'd rather buy on-line.. Ron

I'm fortunate to have a LGS that, if you include shipping, is cheaper than just about any mail order company for common ammo. Their everyday price for Federal Champion 745 is $16.99, for instance. If you are looking for Federal HST or Ranger T, that's another matter.

That's what the guy who helped me told me too. He said there was another guy that works night shift who buys a lot of ammo, which tells me something fishy is going on.

walmart is always out and my LGS's are there to make $ hence why i have been ordering online more and more.

Guess I lucked out with my walmart. The unloaders there are mainly punk skateboarder kids. The ammo comes right out and gets stocked.

Wish I knew how bad this shortage was last weekend when I stopped into a place in TN. They had Federal blue box cases for $20 and I mean like 100 cases on the shelf. Got one figuring it was a deal. Wish I had picked up a few more now.

J Floyd's golf and guns in Sevierville, TN is the place. Customer service lacks but who cares if all you need is ammo on the shelf.

If anyone is on the treasure coast in FL, Walmart on us1 in Port Saint Lucie has got at least 16 boxes of 550 count.

They HAD 2 1000 count boxes of Winchester M-22, but they don't anymore :)
