where the he'll is all the ammo?

Here in the N.W. seems like any stock in the stores like Wallmart and alike seem to disappear pretty quickly, heck there even seems to be a run on .22 ammo, had a sale flyer come out and the fella at the store said they didn't even recieve enough for the sale, and sub'ed a better quality for the same price, 38 and 357 are few and far between, although I snap a few boxs when I can. Seems that as time goes on people are flipping out more and more on this ammo thing. I say if your not stocking up now I think it's going to get to unaffordable price ranges. In our area ammo, firewood, meat and hay, will become great trading material, I'm thankful to live out in the sticks!

Avoid the Mnt like the plague!

When folks quit panic buying things will return to normal, more or less. You can thank the NRA and a legion of dim-witted followers for spreading hyperbole and fear to the rest of the unknowledgeable and naive public. Soon enough folks will realize that there is no looming disaster except in their minds. When they snap out of it there'll be plenty to go around. Only 25% of the population owned a gun(s) before the election. Supplies were already strained coz of the fireworks across the pond. Then the sky is falling bunch stands behind their rhetoric of guns being confiscated, 500% increase on ammo tax, blah, blah, blah. You can only hoard so much coz everyone has a limit on their disposable income. Folks will come to their senses and I expect to see a break within a few months. As the weather warms up Americans want to get out and go on vacation. Most folks aren't interested in continuing to stretch their budget by sitting home coz their funds are tied up in stockpiled ammo. The best thing you can do is stop buying, for the most part, and save your money. If you come across a deal then snag it. It's the land of the free and you're free to spend as much as ya like on what you want.

Only if more than a few folks have been chastened by the rousing lack of success of their hopes and dreams, will the price come down. As you'll recall, I too said it was panic buying about a month ago. Now it's panic buying on steroids! You can't sustain performance of the markets the way it has been for the last month, without folks going completely off the rails. I'm not saying the panic buying is anymore necessary than a month ago. Just more understandable?

The buying public can't maintain this vigorous spending spree. One year ago I purchased some 45acp, 45 colt and 38spl. Six months ago I bought a couple of boxes of 44spl. I'm barely shooting. I have an inventory that I'd prefer to hang on to w/o having to replenish at this time. This surge is a house of cards that can't support itself. The end of the world is as near now as it was in 1909 or 1959 except I don't see a boost in backyard fall-out shelters. I have a payment and a half left on my scoot. Haven't rode it in a year and a half. Yet, now I can by a new one and put half the price on a down payment instead of financing the whole note. I can buy the same bike, three years newer model, at almost the same price. Bought a gun or two and some boolits in that time frame as well. I have to sacrifice, but at times it pays off.

Nick you want to lay the ammo shortage at the feet of the NRA and its feeble minded minions, right? You don't see our new President as a possible motivator? Didn't I read last week that Obama's Attorney General advocates the reestablishment of the AWB? Haven't you stated before that Obama would not be anti gun?

Guess I am just trying to figure if its all in my head (feeble minded minion that I tend to be) or a reflection of a real threat to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Oh I don't know... I rather think that the economic collapse (depression anyone?) and increasingly worthless paper dollars chasing a finite supply of tangible goods might have something to do with it. Add in a new administration that's out and out said that they want a new AWB and is also floating Federal gun registration and increased taxes on ammo as either ideas or bills pending, *and* efforts on the state level in a number of places to push for micro stamping...

You can call it "panic", I'd call it an informed decision to purchase a useful and shelf stable item.

Lest you lump me in with the "dim witted", I made Mensa by two points of the LSAT and have a minor (one of several) in economics plus part of an MBA - never sent away for my Wile Coyote Genius card though, spent that money on beer instead.

I sold most of my stocks near peak in 2006 and bought guns and ammo. The "unsustainable house of cards" turned out to be the economy. Worked out pretty well for me thus far.

Anyone who is trying to lay this at the NRA's feet, and all us dimwits, has got to be a BHO supporter, who is now trying to justify the fact that he voted for the very person directly responsible for this whole downturn in our economic structure. How else can you explain it?

This new butt biscuit that is running the show (right behind queen nancy, and king harry) is going to bankrupt this great nation, and force his his foolish ideology on everyone regardless of what the constitution says.

That has everyone scared silly, and panic buying, plain and simple.

The prez hasn't sold any ammo or guns. It's the publican side hollering the sky is falling and convincing those w/limited willpower or generally indecisive and uninformed. It doesn't bother me one iota if you sink the whole farm into ammo/guns/gold/shamwows/bass-o-matics/pocket fisherman or whatevah. Due to hoarding, using wally-world/academy sports as wholesale suppliers and some new gun enthusiasts there's an artificial strain on supplies that can't be justified or sustained. All of ya'll combined couldn't keep this temporary demand or shortage @ this pace for long if you wanted. But, by all means go ahead and try. The market will meet the demand and when folks grow weary of the gloom n doom forecast that nevah materializes they'll get off this roller coaster. The first AWB didn't do anything save appease some of the far left and allow some folks to make money off overpriced merchandise. Speaking of, I broke down and contributed to the ammo scare/shortage. I bought 2 boxes of Blazer Brass in 9mm, .40, .45acp and two boxes of WWB in 9mm. Set me back about 102 clams including the tax for the eight boxes. Remington shorts were 3.17 a box and I saw a box of Winchester 44 spl cowboy for 29 clams.

The panic is that Obama support a 500% tax increase on firearms and ammo? He also say that it is to hard to control the gun sales but that ammo was more easy to control by taxing the crap out of it making it so expensive that you can't shoot all the guns you got anyway. PANIC PANIC PANIC.

Man can Obama sales some guns and ammo, what a boom he is to the industry LOL

Look every time he opens his mouth the stock got in the craper and gun and ammo sales go up.

The first AWB is directly responsible for the hillary hole on the side of new Smith revos! Where have you been?

Knock the republicans all you want, and sound just like a good little liberal

, but that ******* that is now president is turning this country into a socialist sewer at a record pace. He has a lot of anti-gun bills already waiting for him to sign and slip in one of his pork laden spendulus bills.

The only thing keeping them from going right off the charts with their liberal madness is the fact that, more than turning the country into their idea of utopia, they want to keep their cushy do nothing positions and fatcat status. They know that another election cycle is already getting started, and they don't want to lose control of the power or their positions.

Keep crying wolf, wolf to the sheep. After a bit they'll look around and realize it's nuttin' but hot air.

Your little pic is close to half a million bytes. I'm sure the folks stuck on dial-up appreciate your animated gif.

It's no ones fault that S&W caved except there own. Besides being ugly the IL can be defeated easily enough.

The left wing loons elected this last time around have a new mantra-

A fool and his guns, can soon be parted!

The only evidence I've seen on this so called anti-gun this, micro stamp/super tax has been conjured up right here on this forum. All these bills laying in wait as if all that was holdin' the Prez up was a fountain pen full of ink. Lots of speculation, hearsay and opinion. Time will tell. Arkansas just passed an additional .56 tax on smokes. That's well over 10% of an additional state tax. Dang near a quarter of the price is state tax, but it's going to fund a trama center. Not sure what a trama center has to do w/smoking. Might be time to make the churches start tithing to the state...

Nick,
That was, and you are now making quite a reach?
That "trauma center" has as much to do with tobacco as a fish does with a bicycle. It's really tough for all the special interest groups in that Ginormous tent currently erected, to be satisfied with anything less than their college year dreams being satisfied. How they finance their "dreams" you just alluded to. By raising taxes. It's a zero sum game to this herd, if someone "gets" someone must "give". Until all are equal. Meaning penniless and un-taxable any longer.

Ammo and supplies are in shortage too, because people are scared about the economy and what obama and his left wing agenda will, an are doing. He is clearly demonstrating by his actions so far, that he will take money (and what ever else he can) from those who work and do what's right, and give it to those who are too lazy to get off their collective butts, and take care of themselves. No one wants to be unprepared for what may come in the future, since nobody knows just what this socialist loser will try to do.

It just that simple. obama sucks, and now the country is starting to wake up to what they just elected to office. We may not even be, or have, a country left by the time the left wing gets done destroying our great land.

Now that is something we can agree on! Obama, the Manchurian Candidate, is a real piece of work.
