Where to buy a Lanyard - also, other other holster hardware?

I need to get a lanyard for a WWI gun. Not particular about the exact correctness - doesn't have to be WWI manufacture, or 100%, just not blue and gold nylon or such. I do intend to actually use it while riding.

Inexpensive is also helpful, I'm not working now (in graduate school).

I also need to attach the swivel when it gets here - do I just get a roll pin at the hardware store or what? Thanks for your help.

Second Question
Oh, I also need to repair some old leather goods. Is there a place to get hardware for old holsters? Like the "Push to lift" fasteners on old victory and M3 holsters, brass studs for 1916 style holsters, steel hangers, etc.? Must be a source somewhere since all the repro makers don't forge them on their own!

If it is just for sheer practical utility, and you really don't care about period looks, there are current production "tactical" lanyards marketed for the LE market that are quite serviceable. Some of them are "coiled" ala the wire cord key chains.

For a more period correct look, there's a company that always advertises in Shotgun News. I think that they are called "International Military Antiques" or some such. They've often advertised British/Commonwealth surplus lanywards.

Thanks for the tip - yeah, something vaguely correct is what I want, cotton, not nylon or modern style. I figure there must be cheap surplus or such around. Thank you again.

I just googled it - you were spot on with the name, and I did see that site a while ago. Didn't have the need then, but should have bookmarked it for the future. We'll see what they offer.

OK, they had two, one kinda crazy RAF blue, the other basically a large shoelace no metal spring clip for the swivel, keepers, etc. uess I'll keep hunting. But a good lead and maybe that place will be helpful in the future.

I've picked up a couple nice leather ones on Flea-bay for under $5 shipped. Probably cold war era eastern block surplus. Nice, just the same. Brown leather with good stitching. Spring clip on gun end, and a belt loop on the other. Do a search and you'll find some. I think Numrichcarries some of these also.

I'm with you. I have several handguns with lanyard loops or rings. I always pick one of these to carry when riding my 4-wheeler and such.

For the pin you're talking about, I've used the correct diameter finishing nail, and cut it to length. A roll pin would work fine, too.

If you want it "half way correct" check out What Price Glory. Here is a linkWhat Price Glory . Their M1917 lanyard is as close as you'll get to original at a decent price. Scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page and you'll find the lanyards.

Thanks for all those options. I know have an idea of what's out there and can pick from those. the "What Price Glory" definitely had the most thorough choices, albeit for US equipment.

I updated the OP with an an additional, related question - about getting fastening hardware and such for old leather goods.
