if the "SHTF" turns out to be the gun controll laws?
what states would be your first choice and why?
is the Mason/Dixon line going to be the line that seperates us again?
just one topic at a recent night out round table with a few freinds.

nobody had an answer that night.
what say you?

You just might be right about the Mason/Dixon line. You might as well throw in most states west of the Mississippi river with the exception of the left coast. It could very well turn into a geographical division.

I ain't goin' nowhere. ;)

The Peoples' Republic of Maryland, with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the USA, is south of the Mason-Dixon line. I've lived here all my life, and I don't want to move, but...

While a lot of folks nationwide are worried about what Congress might or might not do, Maryland gun owners are more concerned about the Maryland General Assembly, which opened last week for its annual 90-day legislative session.

Our politicians here are floating all sorts of anti-gun measures, from a 10-round magazine limit to outright bans on owning certain firearms. And since there are very few pro-gun rights legislators in the General Assembly, they can pretty much pass whatever they want to. It is entirely possible that with the stroke of a pen, our Governor will turn lawabiding citizens into instant felons.

It isn't looking good... :(

I've got a big chunk of land in the AZ mountains and I hope I get there before the SHTF! It could be worse than being in ME but it will be hard to keep warm if things shut down. I'm headed out in about 5 years, going totally off the grid, and I'm just hoping things hold together that long.

If the SHTF, it will be at the federal level. No state will be a safe haven.

Correct, they are talking Federal laws. Living in a semi-detached state gives a me little more comfort from some of the lower 48 states craziness and additional local restrictions.

As long as ya stay away from the liberal masses of the big cities like Philthadelphia , the rest of Pennsylvania is pretty darn gun friendly and rights consious. We got a whole bunch of coal miner/mountain folks and their descendants. We've got one of the biggest NRA memberships and hunters per capita. I'm one of them!

And just remember , Washington DC , Maryland and Delaware , some of the worst anti-gun republiks , are BELOW the Mason-Dixon line!

I am not an old member of this forum, I worry when I read posts like this one. I worry about those groups of people that want to disarm us. If they read this post it seems like it would just fuel their views about us. We are for the most part law abiding citizens. Yes we need to be on guard for our rights but lets pick out words and topics so as not to give the disarmers more fuel. Just saying.

I'm proud to be "One Of Them" too.

At my summer home in the Outer Banks with my back to the sea... :)
