Hello, I'm done with "Plastic" guns ,which 3rd gen. 9mm is considered most accurate? Need a da/sa trigger . This will be used for Steel Plate + range fun......

My guess would be the PC 5906 with DPA serial prefix. Theres one up on Gunbroker. Fairly pricey, for me.
Out of all my 9mm pistols, my 3913 is the most accurate. 3" at 25 yards when I do my part. I've shot it in IDPA matches with good results. Regards 18DAI.

3913 and/or 6906 - both are light, accurate and easy to conceal. I went through the FBI Instructor Course in 1990 with the 6906 and won 2nd place. The 6906 was our duty gun at the time.

Hi,
I just bought a seldom used 5903. Only difference between the 5906 and 5903 is the 5903 has a aluminum frame and stainless slide. I think any any of the five series 3rd generation pistols would be a excellent choice.

For the useage that you have described and you want the higher capacity magazines,I would take a serious look at the 5900 series of 3rd Gen...5903, 5904, 5906 if you are not concerned with capacity the 3913-3914 are incredible carry guns am many will tell you that it is STILL the best CCW 9mm ever made!
I still use my 5903 in USPSA/IPDA matches and enjoy the heck out of it. One day I will use my 3913 and see what happens!

The 5906 would be an excellent choice for the purpose you described. The 5906, in my experience, is somewhat heavy for carry but also has low felt recoil & muzzle flip which translates into very fast and steady shooting. The 5906 is as accurate and reliable as any 3rd Gen S&W auto and more capable than most shooters are. If you are looking for top tier accuracy and performance (and have the $) you might want to look at the Super 9 (there are 2 for sale in the classifieds). The Super 9 is a 5" barrel enhanced 5906. But no matter which 3rd Gen you choose, I am sure you will be happy with it.
By the way, I use the MecGar 17 round flush fit mags in all my 59XX series and have never had a single malfunction or other issue. They are, in my opinion, slightly better than the factory mags. 18 rounds at the ready makes an already great gun just a little better.

I use my 3913NL for IPDA, CC, and steel challenge. If you can get past the somewhat low round count of 8 for competition its a great gun. The 3913 is light weight but big enough to know you have a gun and Its plenty accurate for a compact/subcompact gun.

It's hard to beat a 3913. There's just something so right about that gun.

Yea, I like the 3913 too . . . but for the purposes you express, I would say go with the 5906!

If you want a good TDA competition gun without the PC price SOCOMguy has a 5" 5906 for sale in the classifieds. The Super9s' were SA this one is a 5906 with the Super9 upper and is DA/SA.
