I own a couple M&Ps already. An older shield model and a 4" compact model. Looking to add a full size 4.25" 9mm model and am trying to decide between the standard 2.0 version pn#11521 or the Performance Center 2.0 version pn#11818. Use would be rec shooting and some carry. I am used to the Truglo Pro day/night sights on my other M&Ps so would probably add those to the new 4.25". Is the trigger worth it on the performance center version over the standard model? Any other upgrades the performance center version offers over the standard besides trigger and sights?

I also put Tru-Glos on all my M&Ps.
As far as triggers, either I have had bad luck and got the only 2.0s that didn't have good triggers, or a lot of other guys aren't that discriminating when it comes to triggers. All three 2.0s I've had had had really bad triggers. Tons of pre and overtravel and heavy and gritty.
All three got Apex triggers, sear and striker blocks (full kit).
The only PC I had was a .40 Shield, and it had a decent trigger, but not near as good as the stock .45 Shield trigger.

If you don't want to mess with swapping trigger parts, I'd say get the PC.
As far as the porting, it isn't gloom and doom like some would have you believe, those guys don't own one or they would know better.
The ports are tiny and don't blind you, catch your clothes on fire, or take hours extra to clean. The ports are a non issue.
That being said, I don't think you'll notice a benefit with porting on the 9mm.
With .40 caliber, yes.
I bought a spare barrel in 9mm for my .40, and yes, it was ported. I couldn't tell a bit of difference in muzzle rise or recoil over a non ported 9mm.

Since you already have a compact and a Shield, why not consider a 5 inch MP9 ?
Mine shoots wonderfully, the most accurate polymer pistol I've owned.
Yes, it is 3/4" longer, but you already have 2 smaller pistols that you can CC with.

SKU 11818 is my personal favorite 4.25" bbl M&P. Comes set up just the way I want; FO sights, which I prefer over the truglo.
But if you're going to change the sights and trigger anyway, get the standard model.

There is nothing wrong with the original M&P9 1.0000. This one has done yeoman service for almost 20 years and I bought it used. They can be bought for much less than the cost of a new one. Especially if you are going to upgrade the sights anyway.

I have a few and like them all. The 2.0 offers some improvements but the 1.0 is fine as well. Personally I would not go for the PC version. If you want to customize it you'll want to pick your options yourself or at least I do. I'm fine with the stock trigger but have put Apex in a couple not because I was unhappy with the stock trigger but I enjoy building some up just for fun. I built a 2.0 compact and about the only thing left stock on it is the frame and slide. It's lots of fun but it's just a race gun and not suitable for carry. All my carry guns are bone stock. If I had to defend myself with a firearm I don't want to have to explain why I modified it. Others may feel differently.

I think the 2.0 is very good out of the box including the trigger bearing in mind it is not a custom gun. No $500 gun is going to have lots of bells and whistles on it...that stuff is great but it costs quite a bit extra. I'm not telling you anything you don't know but JMHO. Let us know what you decide.

I have both the shield and the full size 2.0 9mm. I ended up changing the shield trigger to an Apex, and the main reason was I liked the FS trigger so much better...I just wasn't happy with the shields trigger after shooting both side by side. I don't have any experience with the Performance Center trigger, but the FS 2.0 stock trigger is plenty good enough for me.

Maybe you can find a range that rents them?

My M&P's are all 1.0 models. I still would always advise buying it in 40 S&W because you can easily convert it to 9mm with just a (correct conversion) barrel and magazine change, but not vice-versa... If you plan to change the sights anyway just don't buy a C.O.R.E. or one with night sights to begin with.

I try to shoot at least 500 rounds with any new (or "new to me") gun before I change anything except magazines or sights: you may be surprized how good things really are before you start to modify...?

As for 357 SIG in a 2.0...? Good luck!

Cheers!

Being the owner of M&P's I have no complaints
Shield 9mm PC both barrel lengths
Shield 45acp PC " " "
Shield EZ .380
M&P Pro Series 9mm
M&P 45 2.0 4.6" barrel
I can't complain about any of the above as they all perform to my expectations. The Shield 45 4" and the 45 2.0 are my favorite to shoot due to a little better accuracy for me. Other than sights all are stock.

I don't own a 9mm anything but I'm happy with my two .45s.

I like my 4.5" M&P 45 soo much I just bought a new M&P 45 Shield M2.0.

The perfect pair. ;)

I did the same but had the .45 Shield first, and just picked up a FS .45.
But I really like my 5 inch 9mm, mild and cheap to shoot, and very accurate.
