Which CCI 22LR for M&P22?

In another month or two I'll be shooting my M&P22 in sub-freezing temperatures and I'm curious about how it will deal with it. My Buck Mark does okay in the cold but others have failed miserably. Been having great luck using CCI Blazer value packs but have a good cache of Mini Mags for when the going gets tough.

Recently purchased an M&P22 and it's big brother the M&P9mm and love them both! During our first range trip both guns performed flawlessly. Went thru amout 200 rounds of Remington Golden Bullets and didn't have a single failure. Cleaned both guns thoroughly when we got home. During our second range trip we shot about 400 rounds Remington again and not a single failure....amazing! Switched over to Winchester 555's and had several in the first magazine...wondering if the gun was just filthly and in need of a cleaning or is the Winchester ammo is no good. Hoping that's not the case as I have 7 boxes of the 555's from Walmart. Can anyone comment on how many rounds can be run through the M&P22 before it needs a good cleaning? I also noticed one of the roll pins was starting to push out on the left side....wonder if that may have effected performance.

I did have trouble with the Winchester 555 with my M&P22 and 15-22, I won't by again unless is the only ammo available.

M&P 22 hates Winchester. Doesn't like federal Mich either. CCI is the best. Rem tbolts and golden work great too and are cheaper. Try to sell those Win rounds. That gun hates them

DON'T OVER THINK IT

As said many guns show an ammo preference, and cci may not be it. There are many different ammo mfgr's and I would recommend trying as many as possible. CCI's do seem to burn cleaner and be very consistent. If it were possible to wear out a 22lr barrel, I'd say you got your money's worth. Have fun trying.

I run most anything I can get through mine and they all work well. I keep cci stingers in both my m&p which stays in my wife's bedstand and in her carry gun.

The stingers have been flawless along with the mini mags (40 gr).

The Winchester 555s and 333s are the only ammo that my M&P22 has had any issue with. It eats everything else fine. Although I love the CCI Mini Mags, I've discovered that the Aguila SuperMax 30 gr 1700 fps is a great choice. It tends to have a few more "flyers" outside of the group, but using the 22 as a trainer for a M&P 9mm, the SuperMax is closer to the feel and it is easier to find and usually cheaper than mini mags.

My M&P 22 does the same thing when shooting "Gold Bucket", it is a little dirtier. Try shooting the Winchester first next time to see how your gun likes Winchester 555 ammo.

The roll pin (in front of the take down lever) on mine used to come out a little when it was new, just tap it back in. Not sure why it does, but after it was broken-in it stopped doing it.

I always clean my guns after shooting. I would always recommend cleaning after shooting "Gold Bucket" ammo.

I shoot non-sanctioned IDPA and steel challenge with my M&P22. I only use CCI Mini-mag ammo, as it runs cleaner and shoots the tightest groups of any of them. The 36grain HP shoots 2 inch groups at 25 yards, off a sandbag and the 40 grain averages about a half-inch bigger than that. The reason the groups are tighter than other ammo is the chronograph shows deviation to average 33 FPS, where with Remington and Federal, the deviation averages closer to 100 FPS. It's worth it to me to pay more for better accuracy in competition. It can mean the difference between winning and losing.

Great information but they are talking about the M & P 22 not the M & P 15-22 rifle.

I have the new 22c (made by smith not walther) and it's a great little piece. However, for a reason I haven't figured out yet, it will not eject Federal LRN ammo. Works great with anything copper plated, especially CCI minimags. Anyone else ran into this problem ??

My Compact had all sorts of trouble with the LTN 40 gr Fed Champions, yet has been fine with CCI Standards, which are LRN and fairly low energy. If one ammo gives you trouble, use another ammo. Or if you have a bunch of the troublesome ammo you want to get rid of, try it again 1000 rds down the road. Things might change as the gun breaks in.

Anyway, my .22 Compact has the same issues with anything Federal or American Eagle. CCI SV and Rem Golden Bullets work great.
