Which Dillon Press??

I have used my 550 for years, from 45LC,45ACP, 38 Special, 357, 32 H&R, 38-55,30-30, 7mm08 to 30-06. It works to perfection for me. It has my vote for ease of use and for being versatile. I have never broken a part or piece of this press, loading thousands.

I have a SDB and I love it. A friend has a 450 and he loves it. Don't think you can go wrong either way.

I prefer the 650, and have two. I have one set for small primers, one for large. A Dillon is an investment, but you can pick up much of it used if you watch around.

same here.

I started out with a RCBS single stage in '74 (still have and use it for working up loads) along the way ('80s) bought a SDB like you... wasn't going to use Dillon for rifle loads...'91 bought a RL550b since then I use it for almost everything except working up loads and sometimes I use it for that too. Anyway IMHO...if you have the money buy a RL550b and don't look back.

I own a 550 & 650, I love the Blue, but would never buy a SDB. I know you say now you only want to load handgun, but why limit yourself? A 550 will do anything 90% of reloaders need done @ 400rs/hr easily. I could do 200rds/hr with just one arm. If you must have a case feeder, then a 650 is the way to go. The 650 is waaaaay more press than the vast majority need, but need & want have little to do with each other. For multiple calibers, loading small amounts, the 550 is hard to beat. I currently load 23-24 diff calibers, most on the 550, some on the 650, some on my ss.

I chose the 550 over the 650 and have not regretted it. Have already spent the difference on extra caliber setups. I would rather go a little slower and stay focused to be sure all is correct.
Either way, you cannot go wrong with a Dillon. If you want to upgrade, you will always be able to resell as long as you don' t leave it out in the rain!

Here's another vote for the 550. At one point I sold off my first 550 to buy the 650. It was a nice machine but a little too fiddly for my taste. I sold the 650 and bought another 550.
