I mostly carry my S&W 4043 but occasionally carry my .38 rossi. I've had the rossi ever since I was old enough to buy a handgun. I doubt I'll ever part with the rossi since it was my first.

What, no 50 cal???

Everyone needs a carry gun like that. Trusty, reliable, accurate and just a little cheezy. My Taurus 605 fills that niche for me. I keep it on the shelf outside the shower when showering. Last summer I wore it appendix while working up to my crotch in the creek next to my dad's house working on a retaining wall.

My vote didn't really apply to what I carry because there are almost always two guns of differing calibers on my person.

Well you didnt include .357 sig which I carry most often. Maybe the fact you didnt include it in your poll means you have disregarded this option or are unfamiliar with it. I recomend you check it out as it is an excellent CCW option or any SD option.

most of my 'ccw' is done without a firearm; I have a few obstacles dealing with my employment that inhibit firearms on their property;

I always have a folding pocket knife on me along with a mini canister of Sabre 3-in-1 or Sabre Red chemical defense spray; employer doesn't allow 'loaded' firearms on their property (and yes this includes inside a locked vehicle) and what good is an unloaded firearm;

the infrequent times I do firearm 'ccw' it is with a S&W 642 with a pocket holster and 1 reload with a Bianchi Speed Strip;

while working or playing at the hunting property...sky's the limit since I am in an 'open carry' state (it's not recommended due to people freaking out in public); nobody bothers us on private property in the woods about open carry

Yes, the Rossi M68 .38 is a great pistol. I bought mine for $120 and it has traveled with me often.

I carried a 1911 .45 almost exclusively for about 28 years while working as a LE. I now seem to carry my S&W 337 in 38cal almost all the time. When I go to the Mountain which is often, I carry a .357, .44sp or .44 Mag S&W depending on my mood.

carry mod.342 w/ silvertips all the time in pocket w/ one HKS loader in off pocket.

carry 1911 SC w/ fed personal defense on hip as warrented w/ two spare mags on off-side.

carry three (3) truck guns: M&P pro 9mm w/ 5 - 20 rd mags loaded w/ fed personal defense in 2 and ball in 3. Rem. 870 ext.tube w/ #4 buck, side saddle w/ slugs. Colt AR-15 sbr w/ old ACOG and 5 30 rd mags loaded w/ Hornaday TAP.

I carry the j frame 640-1 with 38 special +P in a Bianchi M-100 IWB holster.

Although I voted for .38 (my S&W 642, in a belt holster or fanny pack), I also have a NAA .22 and KT P32 conveniently located for easy access, whether sitting or standing.

KAHR PM9

I live in diversified ethnic neighborhood with no problems for some time. Recently, some potential BGs have infiltrated the neighborhood. Have a sig 239, glock 19 and assorted lugers and P38s.
Mostly carried a centenial type 38 or 357 (pocket carry), but decided a 9x19 (luger) would be best for a car pistol. The kahr with a 6+1 capacity weighs only 19 ounces loaded and is the same physical size and weight as a s&w mod 36. exiting the car, the pm9 fits into a front jeans pocket. i shoot it a lot (2 or more times a week) for about 6 months now. no problems, and a nice easy smoothe trigger pull. factory literature states that dry-firing is ok. best combo car/pocket gun i have used to date.

75% of the time I carry a 2-tone Ed Brown Kobra Carry .45ACP in an IWB holster + 1-2 extra mags with Fed Hydrashocks.

Other 25% of time: S&W J Frame .38 in pocket holster w/1-2 speed loaders. Sig 239 9mm in IWB with 1-2 extra mags. Glock 27 9mm in IWB or paddle holster with 1-2 extra mags. Fed hydroshocks or Win Silvertips in these.

I carry extra speed loaders & magazines for 2 reasons: 1. I don't want to run out of ammo in the middle of a fight, and 2. In my experience, one of the most likely things to fail with an autoloader is the magazine, in which case you've now got a single shot, unless you have more mags.
