If You Could Only Own One Smith & Wesson… What Would It Be?

Thanks.

The ivory grips are by Dan Collins. Grant Cunningham tuned it. Two different engravers did the inlay and polishing. It was quite a project.

The answer is obvious. The one gun nobody else makes anything comparable! The mighty Model 500, 4-inch! At 57 ounces it's as light as many long-barreled .44 magnums yet delivers greater energy from that stubby barrel! Capable of reaching 2,200 fpe from the short barrel, the cartridge is so over-powered, there is no need to push it. My 380 gr. Matt's GCHC using Lil 'gun, loaded to 1,543fps/2,003 fpe will put down anything on this continent. The gun is supremely accurate, and thanks to the efficient brake, has a surprisingly reasonable recoil! Five round strings DA, rapid-fire are more "comfortable" to shoot than .44 magnum from my S&W M69! Loaded way down to .44 energy levels brings recoil into the non-existent category.
As can be seen in the pictures next to my Colt Python, the M500 is a beast, but a lot smaller than easier to tote hands free, and have strapped ON YOU in an emergency, while your slug gun is "over there" somewhere.

If you could choose just one Smith & Wesson firearm to own—whether for personal defense, fun at the range, or collecting—what would it be and why?

Would you pick a classic like the Model 29, a reliable Shield Plus, or something unique?

I’d love to hear what the community values most, as this could influence an upcoming giveaway contest! 👀

What's your must-have Smith & Wesson?
Any of the 69XX series. I have both the 6906 and the 6926.
