If you could only pick 2 ultimate classics

My pick for the 2 ultimate S&W classics would be the Model 15 and 19.

S&W Model 15-4 "Combat Masterpiece" in .38 Special

S&W Model 19-3 "Combat Magnum" in 357 Magnum

Thanks for looking at two of my S&W revolvers that I consider "Ultimate Classics."

God bless,

My ultimate classic revolvers would be a Model 58 in Nickel and a Model 520 (the original). Thankfully, I have both, like new in box.

Easy question, deserves an easy answer. Model 57, and any Model 19.

My hands aren't big enough for a .44 mag but I can handle the .41 mag. As for the Model 19, like what's not to like about a .38-.357 revolver.

Give me a choice of 3 and I'd add a K-22.

While not within the last 50 years…. A mid 30’s 38/44 Outdoorsman and a mid 30’s registered 357…. I had both for a short while then got the itch to replace my 1948 Winchester 52 with an Anchutz to shoot 4 position small bore NRA matches…. Still have the 38/44 but sure wish I had the registered model back!

Your results may very..

Two???

Okay, I'll play.
1) K-22 pre model number 6" blue
2) 624 Lew Horton 3" 44 Special

Both with original box, paperwork, tools and MINT!!

J frame rimfire with 3 1/2 or 4 inch barrel and a 28-2 4 inch. If I could have 3, Model 18.

You show why 2 is impossible. Your picks are completely different from mine, yet just as valid.

No one picked the new no lock 10 or 19? Why not, S&W calls them 'classics.'

Sorry, taking the lock out doesn't make them 'classic.'

End of rant.

A pinned and recessed Model 19. After that, it's a toss up between a Model 29 and a 586. The 29 is more famous because of Dirty Harry. But, the 586 is more practical in my opinion.

1. EDC my 3" 66-4 Spegel Boot grips

2. all around utility/duty gun the 4" 686 no dash I've had since the early 80s round butted and action job!

and got to have a .22 which would be a 4" 18

I will recall my own past when I bought my first S&W. I bought a Model 25-2, with the 6.5" barrel in .45acp. It's cheaper than a Model 29 and cheaper to shoot, too. Very pleasant to shoot. Any time I have a 6.5" barreled N-frame in my hand, I have a smile on my face. I can't help it. Then, a K-22, which happened to be my 2nd S&W.

If it HAS to be 2…

A P&R Model 19 4” (already have one, my 1st S&W revolver)

And a 29-2 4”. Still waiting for one to fall in my lap LOL. I have a nickel 6.5” that is holding me over until then (I’ve since put its original stocks back on it, just no photo).

Can't get more classic than the Model 10 or any of the earlier variants. Before the frame mounted firing pin and of course before the lock. I don't even consider the new Model 10's without the lock to be classic. Once they stopped pinning the barrel, they're not really classic to me. Been around since about 1899. I don't think an L frame rises to the level of 'classic". They're too new. I love my 681 and think the L frame is the perfect size and weight .357, but it isn't classic to me.
