Personally, I just enjoy pushing the 9MM "buttons" mainly because they are so very, very easy to push!!!

Of course, the fact that I also believe what I say to be totally true makes it very, very easy to do. I listened in the High School Physics Class that said that "X" amount of gun Powder is going to do just exactly so much to push up against such and such a bullet. And, the a cartridge case of "X" capacity will only hold so much gun powder but a cartridge with a larger capacity will will hold "MORE" powder and will do more work. And, the simple fact is that the .38 Special Cartridge has a great capacity than a 9MM Luger cartridge does. This means that the same bullet being pushed out of a .38 Special cartridge Full of powder will push a bullet further, faster and hard that the same bullet being pushed by a 9MM Luger cartridge Full of the same type of powder! Because there will be more powder in the .38 Special case that there will be in a 9MM Luger case.

I have a wide selection to carry but I choose to carry a .38 Colt Agent with the 6 rounds.

I carry a P3AT on me at all times (24/7).
most the time it is a bug for my 357mag or the 45acp that I carry.

But if I gotta make a quick trip to the store, ect. I always have the 380.

Yeah, but since I forgot (and can't fix) leaving the 9mm out, I think that can be included in the .38 voters, what do you think?

Its larger than most people would choose, but I am large enough to conceal it fairly well.
It is a round I have high confidence in, the pistol fits my hand well, and it hits exactly where I aim.

+1. I use that revolver for IDPA and it does the trick.

KKG I am quite confident that the 38Spl operates at 16-20K and the 9mm operates at the 30K threshold.

Two different calibers, two different weapon systems. While not a great fan of 9mm I've learned to compromise. My pants pocket carry is a Colt Agent with Boot grips. My IWB Carry is a Smith 439 with Gold Dot 124+Ps.

A revolver load of 135 gr Gold dots at 900fps from a 2 inch (6 rounds) and /or an aluminum framed single stack 9mm with 9rounds of 124 grains doing 1220fps. Plus a spare mag.

Don't like the 40 was issued a G23 that I carried and hated for 9 years, and 357 Muzzle flash/blast I now find intimidating due to lack of frequency firing that caliber with full house loads.

Boils down to what works for the individual.

KKG & bronco45: SAAMI chamber pressure limits - .38 Spl. 17,000 (std.), 18,500 (+P); 9x19 35,000 (std.), 38,500 (+P).

KKG: There is certainly NO 'perfect' self defense cartridge - NO service caliber handgun bullet will RELIABLY incapacitate an assailant. The .40 'short and weak' is actually a reasonably well-balanced cartridge, but the 9x19 has better inherent feed reliability because of its shape and aspect ratio. The best loads in both cartridges create remarkably similar wound tracks in various test media.

The 9x19 permits a smaller and lighter gun to be designed around it while still permitting the typical shooter to actually hit his/her target. The greater popularity of that cartridge permits economy of scale production cost savings that translate into lower over the counter prices which in turn permits the typical (non-reloader) shooter to practice more on a given budget. Shot placement is nearly everything, having the 'best' caliber takes a back seat to reliability and shoot-ability.

Even though I don't carry a 9 mm I noticed it wasn't listed, any reason, or did you just forget it?

I carry my 380 always and my 38 most of the time.

The s&w j frame 38spl makes a great pocket gun. I use my j mostly in my pocket with a holster. I do have a "man bag" gun. The Glock 36 makes a nice tote around. Add an extra mag and you are set. For the house, 45acp.

Usually one of these three:
CS45,
386PD,
M642.

Only rarely, a Glock M30.
I am very comfortable with these choices. I carry either two magazines or two speedloaders. I never feel undergunned. The most difficult part was trying to find proper holsters for each.

I actually carry my Glock 26 10+1 round 9mm mostly.

Sometimes my Glock 19 15+1 round 9mm but since 9mm was not a choice in the poll I chose my new .38 442 which I bought for those times when I'm in scrubs or lightweight summer shorts or just want to pocket carry.
Now I'm just trying to figure out how much practice it will take for me to be as good with the snubby as I am with my Glocks.

I switch between a Springfield Loaded 1911, and my S&W 25-13, I mix between CC and open carry, both are legal in NM, only one requires a permit.

Me thinks that is refering to the 38 special. I carry a S&W 442 with the new Hornaday Extreme Defense round that will go through a auto glass window and still give you 13" of gel penatration.
