Some guns command a following -- and prices -- far in excess of what could reasonably be called their actual worth.

I can think of three:

Winchester 21
Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 .257 Roberts
Registered Magnum

What other guns have achieved cult status?

Well, you had probably be prepared to differentiate between "prices commanded" and "actual worth". It is pretty easy to argue that they represent the same value. If you are speaking about "intrinsic worth", that would depend upon the use to which the gun was to be employed.

Ever since the WW2 movies came out in the late 90's, milsurps, especially Lugers, K98s and Garands have gone up in value. Even some Russian and Yugo capture/reworks are over $500+!

The .44 Magnum (pre-29)
Pre-64 model 70
Browning BAR
Thompson SMG
1911A1 Singer Mfg.
Sharps 1874
.44 AutoMag
Bren 10 (that works)

Winchester one of one thousand.
Colt Patterson
Colt Walker
Hawkin
Sharps
Winchester model 66

Hard to believe but SKS's are headed that way. Hard to find any under $300.
Excellent example.
I'd have posted this, had you not beat me to it.
I recall seeing these for 75 bucks hot off the rice freighter.
My friend got one, and I felt he paid 70 too much.
Trigger take up nearly half the length of the rifle, and every foot of it rusty cheese grater smooth, I think the$5 balance might have been negotiable.
After I out shot it with a 629, it was sent on it's way, well modded, for a healthy profit during the first wave of gun bans.

Can't think of any better example of a cult gun than the Colt Python. They are really getting out of hand!

Other very sought after pieces are of course:

Smith 2 1/2" M66 and M19

Colt SAA 4 3/4"

S&W Registered Magnum

WWll (genuine) 1911's with history

H&K MP-5 (a good sub gun)
Winchester M-12 (a little over rated IMHO)
FN Hi-Power (son of the 1911, but never quite as good)
Winchester M-63 (quality semiauto)
Winchester M-61 (quality pump)
Winchester 1894, M-94 (overrated IMHO, Marlin is a better lever)
German Luger (really poor design, great machining work)

YMMY, ................. Big Cholla

Surprised no one mentioned the post war S&W K-32. They are out there, but to get a fair price you have to come across someone that has no clue. Qualifies as cult in my world.
