The poly and steel .38 Bodyguard that I own shoots well with .38s. I haven't tried any +P loads in it and will probably not do so. The .38s will do the trick. I have not shot any of the steel Bodyguards for comparison. My normal pistols are the .45 acp and Model 27 Smith in .357.
My wife expressed a desire to learn to shoot after 40 years of marriage and she wanted to try the polymer weapon with a built in laser. I've taken the grip off of the weapon and replaced it with a Hogue grip designed for the pistol and found it more comfortable to shoot than with the original grip. I think you're looking at the future with this pistol and the Ruger LCR variants.
