Which Model 27 to add to the collection?

I only like 6” barrels. A m27-2 and a m28 would look nice in any collection. Blue or nickel.

Left pic is a m27-2 over a m28 no dash, the nickel is a m27-2.

Well for a FIRST Model 27, I would think a range gun is the way to go. I am very fond of the 6 1/2" barrel with a red insert Patridge front sight like the middle revolver in the following image

For carry, I really like the 3 1/2" eight shot Model 27s.
I prefer blue, but they were also offered in nickel

If carrying a N-frame is something you think will bee too heavy, there is the Scandium alloy framed 2 1/2" Model 327 which weighs in under 30 ounces

For pin shooting, I have recently added a 2nd cylinder to my 627 V-Comp so that I can shoot 9x23 Winchester or any of its related cartridges. The V-Com reduces muzzle climb to almost nothing when shooting 9MM ammunition. It comes back in target VERY fast

For fast followups even with the biggest, full power Magnum ammunition out there, this 627 Heavy Hunter is just amazing

The 27/327/627 family of firearms is extremely broad and diverse. It is hard to love just one

I had, from top to bottom...
1959 8 3/8" 27
1960 6.5" 27
1961 6" 27
1975 5" 27
1957 4" pre-27
1955 3.5" pre-27
1968 6" nickel 27-2

I sold all of them except the 6.5" 27. This is my favorite 27.
Not the rarest or most valuable by any means. It just speaks to me. ;)
I kept the 5" 27-2 too due to sentimental reasons.

You'll pick the one that you like the best too.

Try to find yourself a 6.5” S-Prefix 27-2 with red ramp front sight, amd wearing a pair of cokes. Very much hens teeth, but quite a striking appearance!

27-2, blued in a 3.5" barrel. I've been looking for one forever. It's almost to the point thatI'll see if I can fin a 28-2 and a 3.5" 27 barrel as a shooter and project gun.
.

There are plenty of them out there. What you are saying is that you do not want to pay 2500 to 3K for one. Me either

And for sure, it will not outshoot a 4" M28 costing a third of the price. That is why the M28's are getting grabbed up. They are the poor man's M27

Funny, I bought mine in 1982 at the Phoenix Gun Show. Shot 2 rounds since then and kept it stored and waxed. We have moved to Alabama. I am about to sell my 3.5" 5 screw in Excellent Condition, circa . I see it is very valuable on the public sights. For photos, this site requires a URL, not upload of *.jpg file. I don't have an online presence, only jpg file of it. If interested email me at [email protected]. We can discuss it. no promises.

Thanks. I've seen pics showing the target stocks. What are the differences so you can tell target hammer and trigger? What are the benefits of the 3T's or is it just personal preference?

triggers and hammers are 1/2" wide
Generally better for target shooting.

For me it would have to be a 3.5", 27. Would take blue or nickel. Never found the right 1 for me. Do have a 6" 28 no dash. No bling, but shoots well. Bob
