which one to sell/keep

I'm in need of some cash and have to sell one of my rifles. I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm curious what members here would do and reasons for your choice..thanx for input

Which one do you shoot more? If you use the Marlin to hunt, will you be able to hunt with the AR in your state?

I don't hunt with the 3030. Truthfully it never gets shot but I like having it

Whatis your PURPOSE in having A rifle in general, not either of those in particular? Food on the table if times get rough? Home defense/SHTF/TEOTWAWKI, or justrange shooting?

Keep the one most appropriate for tour intended use of a rifle.

I don't have a need or desire for a lever gun so I would sell the Marlin. In fact I did just that a few years ago and don't miss it.

"Like having it around" is not an excuse for me if I really need the money. It comes down to use or not use. If it sits in a safe it goes for sale

I'd sell the AR, for a couple of reasons.

A - you'll get more money for it. If you "need the money", that's a good thing.

B - I don't like ARs.

Sell the one that would be the ease to replace if sometime down the road you think you made a mistake. For me that would be the AR. Today you can buy another AR anytime you want. That Marlin will be tougher to replace if you decide you made a mistake selling it and want another one.

How much money do you need? Will you be able to pay it back in the future?

Here's what I've offered to many others and now offer to you:
I like both of those guns. I will buy either from you for a reasonable price, but probably not as much as you might get locally. We'd have to talk about it. If at any time in the next year, you want to buy it back, I will sell it back to you at whatever price you sell it to me for. After a year, the offer expired and you'd have to pay whatever the market value is if you wanted it back. Of course that year time frame is not set in stone.

Based on the info provided, you don't hunt the Marlin and don't shoot it. you "like it".
I'll assume you don't hunt the AR either, so for practical application purposes, if I could have only one rifle in the house,
it would be the AR hands down.
I can't even imagine the horror of living with only one rifle in the house.
