Which one?

New to ARs completly and looking to get a m&p 15-22 to learn with. Any advice on which version is appreciated. My thoughts so far are looking toward the MOE version.

It all depends on what your preferences are. I personally went with the non-MOE version but made sure i got the threaded barrel. The MOE version comes with some great add ons...Magpul grip, stock, etc. I just wanted mine to look a bit more unique so i went with the more standard option and upgraded the stock, grip and optics separately to my specific tastes.

However, i would say the Magpul flip up sights that come on the MOE version are far better than the normal A2 sights and are definitely worth the extra cost of the gun. You really can't go wrong with either option.

The threaded barrel will come with a flash hider. While not really necessary on a .22lr, it completes the look. Also if you plan to use a suppressor, having the barrel already threaded is one less thing for you to worry about.

As for threaded barrels, it gives you more opions for ad-ons. Flash hiders/liner comps and suppressors.

They're all pretty much the same. The rifle will work the same regardless of which version you use. It just depends if you want some small add ons (Magpul furniture, or threaded barrel for a flash supressor). If you think you're going to accessorize the rifle I would suggest buying the base version. I went with green furniture for mine, which wasn't available with the MOE version, so I would have paid extra for the MOE rifle, then paid more for the green stuff.

I just sold my original non-threaded barrel V1 15-22 an picked up the recently released V2 15-22 'Sport' model and LOVE it.

The M-LOK hand guard is much more stream line looking and comfortable that the bulky quad rail most 15-22 models include. I like the ability to use M-LOK accessories more as well.

You also gain 8 mounting lines around the Sport hand guard instead of just 4 with the quad rail. In other words, you can mount accessories on 45 degrees.

All that and the Sport is less expensive and includes V2 MagPul MBUS sights!

Well i went with the new sport model with the threaded barrel and..... LOVE IT!! Brought it home and put 200 down the pipe in the backyard. Time for a good cleaning

I went with the Sport, as well. I like the MLOK, MBUS sights, and threaded barrel. Base model makes for great blank slate.

A word to the wise, go easy on that 'good cleaning'. By that i mean go easy on any lube/oil you use. In reality the only part of the bolt that needs a regular application of lube are the guide rails on the bolt and even then you only need enough to barely see it. The more 'spare' lube you have the more gunk will be attracted and will foul up your rifle, quicker. Make sure that none goes into the firing pin channel and you'll be fine.
