I already own a Shiloe Sharpe's 1874 30" long 1" Octagon in 45-70, made back when they were in Farmington, N.Y. I have MVA tang sight for about 1200 yard distance (my eyes would never see that far!)
If I were to get a second, it would be in 40-65 BN or 40-70 Sharps Straight. The milder recoil on full power long range shot would be a plus.
I have a friend with a C. Sharpes 1874 50-90 (circa 1980), but the recoil on his 425 grain, 85 gr FFg loads is pretty fierce!
I have a Egyptian Rolling Block converted to 50 Carbine (425 gr bullet and 50 gr of FFg) This little carbine is very mild!
I have a 1886 Spanish 43 Reformado (400 grain .454" bullet, 75 gr. FFg) 57mm (2 1/4") brass that is a butt kicker.
I have a 2005 Winchester/Maruko 1885 Low Wall in 38-55, Very fun with 255 RNFP, butt kicker with 330 gr RN over 50 FFFg.
I have 200 45-90 (2.4") brass and a dozen 45-110 (2 7/8") laying around, but I think I'll pass on the guns.
