I've got the urge to get one. I can see a model 60 and a model 15 both .38's which one should I choose?

Difficult choice.

I have both, a Model 60 2" and a Model 15 2". I carried the Model 15 daily for several years and I like it because it was fully controllable with fairly stiff defense loads such as Federal 129 grain Hydra-Skok +P. The Model 60 is a little easier to conceal but it "bites" a little with full defense loads.

I also own both J and K frame .38 snubbies. I prefer the K-frames. The bigger guns is easier to shoot, controls recoil better and is more accurate.
At least they are to me. ;)

So far I think it's about neck and neck....I can get the model 15 for about 300 and the 60 is stainless so it's going for 350

If your looking for a snub your looking for something small..
That said it would be hard to beat the M60 J Frame with the 2" barrel IMO.. Nothing against the K Frame snubs but just bigger..
Also the stainless M60 will less likely rust if carried..
I'm a big J Frame fan can't help it..

I personally would go with the model 15.
1. it has adjustable sights so you can make accurate shots.
2. it holds 6 rounds over the 5 in the J frame
3. it is just as concealable as the J frame

I had some night sights installed on my 15 to carry as a back up gun on duty.

I don't have a K frame, but I've got an M36 and M60. The M60 is my everyday carry gun and I couldn't ask for anything more.

Now to be perfectly honest, I do kind of lust for a K frame .357, 2 inch snubbie, round butt.

What can I say? I'm still look'n for a good K frame.

I like the Mod 36

I have had the blue one for 35 years.

snubbie

I carry a 442 Airweight (J frame) in a pocket holster every day. I feel very confident in my ability to make center of mass hits at likely scenario distances with it. It's loaded with Speer's +P HP short-barrel load (135 grain I think). I like its small size and light weight- hence, I carry it every day, everywhere it's legal to, rather than leaving it at home like my Glocks, Kimber 1911, Springfield XD, etc. I don't shoot tons of duty ammo with it at the range because my hand starts to feel it, but in a real world shooting I doubt I would notice 5 shots at all. I would choose the model 60 if the K-frame 15 is noticeably heavier or bulkier (pocket bulge). If I wanted longer sight radius or "better" sights, I'd pack a full-sized semi-auto in a belt holster.

I have some J-Frame snubs but confess to liking the K-Frame snubs best. I think that the Model 15 2-inch is one of the best looking handguns of all times. It has a businesslike look about it in a very classy way.

The K-Frames are easier for me to shoot well and they soak up recoil like champs. I agree with PanamaJack310 that they are as easy to conceal as J-Frames, at least for me.

I picked a 640-3. Doesn't rust, at least on the outside, doesn't have an exposed hammer to hang up on anything, fires those nice short barrel .357s from Speer and Buffalo Bore for a bit more energy, and weighs enough that it doesn't hurt too much to shoot them.

Just my opinion.

My favorite is the model 10 2" with round butt. That, loaded with the old Treasury load (158 gr. LSWHP) is the ultimate snubbie.
I also enjoy a nickled mod. 36 RB too.

Depends on the purpose

I have both, and use both. The 60 (with hammer bobbed) makes fine carry gun and shot not too much. The 15 is a pleasure to shoot, and is one of my most accurate guns. It depends on what you are going to do with it, my recommendation, get both.

Thanks for the insights everyone. I've decided on the 15 - looks mostly I loooove the S&W blue! Up here we can't carry so that's out but it'll be a fun shooter for sure. Who knows, maybe this will be the start of a 'small' collection!
