White paint on hammer?

My new M&P 10 Sport came with an interesting white paint marking on the hammer, as per attached photo. Any ideas what's going there?

Not sure why its there, but others have mentioned seeing it on their M&P AR's as well.

One of my M&Ps (M&P15 or 15-22 - I can't remember) had a drop of white paint on the face of the hammer.

Well, I got a response from S&W:

" Some parts may be marked in the manufacturing process. There is no significance to the white paint. "

That certainly explains it!
